You also have:An openness to relocate if not presently located in this areaA Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 7+ years experience. 5+ years (3+ with advanced degree in related field) of experience in mid/high volume product development.Experience supervising engineers, and you enjoy coaching, mentoring, and developing talent.A proven track record in Project Management; You are familiar managing New Product Development projects within a Stage Gate Process, are highly organized, and comfortable reporting out to management.A strong background in mechanical design; you have knowledge in material selection and related manufacturing processes for components and can demonstrate your ability applying DFM / DFA design principles.Demonstrated proficiency in machined part design including surface finishes, surface coatings, and best practices is highly preferred.Experience in Advanced Product Engineering, solving difficult technical problems by developing new & creative designs and solutions, risk analysis (DFMEA), patent research.Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerances GD&T per ASME Y14. 5-2009.A demonstrated ability to dissect a problem to find the root cause, design robust solutions, and create an effective and fast test method to prove out the fix.Experience in managing Quality through use of statistical tools, process capability, DOE s, and tolerance stack-ups.What You ll DoAs a Project Engineer, you ll be part of our Global Tools & Storage team located in Towson, MD. Specifically, you ll:Lead a team of 1~3 engineers & designers, developing designs and processes for next generation of power tools.Provide leadership, advice, and engineering expertise to colleagues, and you ll mentor, train, and develop junior engineers and designers.Successfully carry out the design process to achieve quality, performance, schedule, and cost objectives in a cross-functional environment. You ll be accountable and will own the results.Collaborate cross functionally with non-engineering disciplines including operations, marketing, and sourcing on strategic initiatives including complexity reduction, cost reduction, warranty reduction, mfg. plant transfers, and others.Lead team members through advanced tolerance stack-ups and system analysis to ensure product assembly and functionality remain consistent throughout its lifetime.Investigate design issues & test failures, and effectively identify, recommend, and implement corrective actions to components and/or mfg. process.Partner with cross-functional teams (Product Marketing, Reliability, Field Research) to identify and clearly define customer requirements and translate those requirements into appropriate product specifications and develop test systems to ensure we meet or exceed customer expectations.Implement design and process controls, conduct root-cause analysis, and apply statistical and Lean Six-Sigma techniques to maintain and improve product quality as problems arise thru the product development cycle.Support the Milestone process for all engineering requirements to deliver a product that meets our history of guaranteed tough products.Provide recommendations to the business on viability, capabilities, and limitations of evaluated technologies.What You ll Also GetCareer Opportunity: Career paths aren t linear here.
