Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.What You'll Get to Do: The Space Systems Engineering Section Manager role is a "dual-hat"A' Engineering Manager responsible for both section management (up to 20% of time) and program responsibilities as a technical lead or individual contributor (80% or more of time). In addition to reporting into a program, the Section Manager is also a member of the Space Systems Engineering functional management organization.As a Section Manager you will be the functional management point of contact for your assigned staff of 8-12 engineers.You will regularly meet with your staff for career development, employee engagement, and mentoring and coaching discussions.You will assist employees in preparing performance goals, provide career mentorship to employees and counsel employees on their performance as needed.You will coordinate with programs and senior Engineering functional staff on staffing, recruiting, training, preparing and delivering performance evaluations to employees, evaluating/recommending employees for promotions, evaluating salaries and coordinating on potential adjustments.You will coordinate with programs to ensure appropriate staffing/de-staffing actions are developed and executed relative to your section, and coordinate employee movement between programs.You may be required to work with senior Engineering functional staff and Human Resources Business Partners to mediate and resolve personnel issues.Oversight of cost, schedule, and technical quality for SEIT execution on supported programsProvide technical contributions on assigned programs, including subject matter expert reviews for major milestone events (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, etc.). SEIT support as an individual contributor, and leadership of root cause and corrective action analysis as required.Support MBSE, Product Line Architecture (PLA), and Agile implementation that provide a competitive advantage for our customers.Basic Qualifications:Bachelor's degree (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years related experience; 6 years of related experience with a Masters; 4 years of related experience with a PhDProven demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication skills along with proven success working in an integrated product team environmentHigh proficiency in technical problem solving, to include decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation and monitoringActive Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibilityPreferred Qualifications:Active Top Secret/SCI clearanceFunctional management experience leading teams, especially in a Systems Engineering, Technology Development or Systems Development roleA proven history of technology development including technology/product conception and development activities through technology readiness levels (TRL 1-7)Experience with RF Systems, EO/IR, laser, or related defense systemExperience in all aspects of the engineering process / lifecycle, from requirements analysis through verification testingBackground and understanding in various tools and techniques associated with cost/schedule managementProficiency in MS Project, MS Office, MATLAB, Simulink, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and Agile techniquesSalary Range: 134200 - 201200Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
