Business Manager, Parking & TransportationGeorge Mason University seeks a seasoned and innovative leader to serve as the Business Manager, Parking & Transportation. Responsibilities:Business Management and Financial Business Manager, Parking & Transportation is responsible for supporting the Director of Parking and Transportation (D-P&T) with the management of the University's $20m parking and transportation services. The Business Manager will support the D-P&T with short-term and long-range business operations, business analysis and recommendations, capital expenditure planning, financial planning and analysis, and project management. The Business Manager reports to the D-P&T, with a dotted line to the Chief Business Officer for Operations and Business Services (OBS), and is responsible for analysis of contract operations, including financial reporting, management, and controls. The Business Manager coordinates with parking and shuttle contractors to provide high-quality, financially reasonable services to the campus community, and maintains standards of excellence for contracted parking and transportation services. The Business Manager is responsible for budget development and analysis, and assisting with annual rate setting. The position will assist with analyzing and developing sustainable practices for services, and implementing new programs in collaboration with the Office of Sustainability. Operations & Contract Administration The Business Manager will also provide some support to the D-P&T for managing daily operations and special events of campus access and campus shuttles. This includes coordinating with contractors, event customers, and departments, including Events Management and ICA, on managing special event parking services. The position assists D-P&T managing parking and shuttle contracts, and works on a daily basis with contractor staff including financial oversight of contracts and transactions. The Business Manager upholds customer service standards and ensures client expectations are met by receiving and facilitating resolution of inquiries, concerns, and/or complaints. The position performs frequent interactive customer discussions with faculty, staff, students and parents. Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience;Strong experience in general business management and analysis;Previous financial analysis and planning background;Ability to analyze business operations and performance, identify critical business areas for review, and provide data driven operational recommendations;Ability to solve daily problems and resolve issues with customers and contractors;Ability to drive strategic goals, including planning and implementation efforts;Understanding of third-party contract management, and ability to develop and maintain strong vendor relationships;Financial planning and analysis, and budget development skills;Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written); Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from faculty, staff, students, parents, clients and the general public;Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and work well under limited time constraints;Ability to assist with planning and managing special events parking operations;Knowledge of campus access operations including parking and shuttles preferred;Appreciation and understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and engaging with a diverse community of students, faculty, staff, and community; andHighly professional skills in managing all customer-service-related issues. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree preferred; Considerable (generally at least five years) experience in parking or transportation environment preferred; andExperience in higher education environment preferred.
