Position Information
The Arlington Economic Development (AED) is seeking a temporary part-time Art Facility Coordinator to join its Cultural Affairs Division (CAD). CAD's core mission is to foster a creative environment that encourages collaboration, innovation, and community participation. This position is responsible for providing oversite of the Lee Arts Center's ceramic and printmaking studios and monitoring the building while members are present.

The Lee Arts Center (LAC) is a facility that provides open space to artists working in advanced levels in ceramics and printmaking. LAC is a membership-based open studio program with 30-50 artist members.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Managing daily operations and maintenance of the ceramic and printmaking studios;
  • Coordinating members in the studios and abiding by all Arlington County COVID safety protocols;
  • Supporting administrative needs and requests of the members and direct supervisor;
  • Marketing and social media initiatives and contributing creatively to post on social media platforms;
  • Maintaining a tidy, clean, safe, and professional workshop space and studio environment; and
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will have a background in visual arts, excellent communication skills, a self-starter with exceptional organizational, time-management, and interpersonal skills. The ability to also collaborate with colleagues across a range of disciplines and interact professionally with stakeholders and vendors.

Selection Criteria

  • High School Diploma/GED; plus
  • Three (3) years of experience administering programs, including art programs, project coordination, and/or facility monitoring.
Desirables: Preference may be given to candidates with a Bachelor's Degree in related field and experience in one or more of the following:

  • Using social medial platforms (i.e., Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube);
  • Working in an Arts organization/institution or art studio, including working as an artist or art teacher;
  • Working with visual artists, specifically ceramic and printmaking artists;
  • Knowledge of firing processes for electric and gas kilns; and/or
  • Using Microsoft Office (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Google docs, and Adobe Creative Suite).

Special Requirements
A pre-employment criminal records check will be conducted. It may include checks of the following: criminal record, driving record, education, professional licensure, and credit history. You may be required to sign a release authorizing the County to obtain your background information.

Applicant must obtain, by the time of appointment, a valid driver license, and the authorize Arlington County to obtain, or provide a copy of official driving record. Any offer of employment may be contingent upon a favorable review of the applicant's driving record.
