Duties

Will be required to maintain, inspect and perform minor repairs on rental inventory items such as outboard motors, boats, RV's, pop-up campers, travel trailers, boat trailers and gardening equipment. Performs routine maintenance on motors and motorized equipment by replacement or substitution. Visually checks for worn, dirty or damaged parts when receiving rental equipment returns. Coordinates with supervisor when major equipment repair is necessary, or for replacement parts in a timely manner. Instruct patrons on the correct operation of equipment at time of issue. Performs routine preventative maintenance on boats, RV's, pop-up campers, camper trailers and gardening equipment. Keeps all equipment clean and staged for rental. Operates government vehicles in the course of regular duties.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have general knowledge of operational and repair characteristics required for small gasoline engine powered equipment. Must be able to use a variety of hand tools and equipment required in small engine repair work. Must be able to read and interpret manufacturer's manuals and to determine repair parts requirements and communicate to supervisor. Must be skilled in working with the public and be able to effectively communicate instructions and procedures required for proper and safe usage of equipment. Must be able to read, speak and write English. Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 60 pounds. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
