Paralegal - Employment Law / HR Perseus Management Group Inc. is seeking candidates for the role of Paralegal - Employment Law / HR to support the Perseus Operating Group's portfolio of vertical market software companies. The Perseus Operating Group, a portfolio of Constellation Software Inc. (TSX: CSU), acquires and operates independently managed software companies throughout the world, and provides them with the strategic guidance and financial security they need to become leaders within their respective markets. This role offers the opportunity to join a growing international conglomerate and to be a catalyst for improvement. The Paralegal will be responsible for supporting the Perseus Employment Counsel, working on a variety of Employment Law / HR tasks, and providing advice and support to our HR team and portfolio companies located in the US, Canada, and internationally including the UK, Sweden, Australia, Germany, India, and Pakistan. The Paralegal will collaborate with personnel in a variety of time zones. Location: Hunt Valley, Maryland (US) or Markham, Ontario (Canada) preferred; remote candidates considered Responsibilities: * Work with the HR team and attorneys to monitor legal developments and research and draft policies and guidance, HR templates, and legal documents (including routine affidavits and subpoena responses). * Work with business managers and HR team, with attorney support as needed, to prepare employment-related documentation including sales commission and bonus plans, offer letters, employment agreements using attorney-prepared templates and guidance. * Research and prepare information packages regarding state/province, federal, and local employment regulations. * Work with the legal team, HR team, business managers, and others in preparing and responding to subpoenas, agency inquiries, and responses. * Support employment litigation and disputes, including assisting with internal investigations of employee relations matters. * Support HR diligence of companies being evaluated for potential acquisition, including analysis of employment-related legal considerations associated with the acquisition, and work with the HR team to support the preparation of employment-related documentation (offer letters, onboarding materials, commission plans, etc.). * Work with members of the legal team, HR team, and applicable business teams to assist with special projects, enterprise-wide initiatives, and other duties as assigned. Requirements: * Employment law experience, with an understanding of legal language and principles, research methods and processes, and other related matters. * Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a remote environment and/or with remote colleagues. * Self-motivated, practical, and business-minded with a high sense of professional ethics, integrity, and diplomacy. * Detail-oriented; excellent problem-solving and organizational skills. * Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, rapidly changing environment, adapting to changing requirements and collaborating with a wide range of colleagues to quickly deliver solutions. * Strong time-management skills; ability to effectively prioritize and work systematically and methodically, while monitoring and managing multiple tasks to successfully meet conflicting deadlines. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills, analytical skills, and the ability to act independently and exercise sound judgment. * Possess strong working knowledge of Word, Excel, and other Microsoft Office programs. * Light travel is possible. Education & Experience * Bachelor's degree, paralegal certificate, or equivalent experience. * At least three years of relevant experience, preferably at least some of which was spent working with a law firm and/or in-house legal department and ideally including experience working with commission and bonus agreements, assisting with employment-related subpoena and audit responses, and participating in employment aspects of M&A transactions, including due diligence and employee transition matters. * Experience working with a global organization including the US, Canada, and UK, and/or an acquisitive growth-oriented organization is a plus. * Experience in an HR role and/or the software industry is a plus.
