MedStar Physicians' Billing Services team is currently seeking a Senior Payment Posting Representative, who will focus on credit balance resolutions, to join our team. This is a full time positionwith a hybrid schedule that includesworking remotely from home and 1-2 shifts per month in office. Theselected candidate can select the office location (either located in Rosedale, Maryland orWashington, DC). Job Summary * Performs essential payment posting functions, setting benchmarks standards for the work group. In addition, trains all new employees, conducts ongoing training sessions, assists with designing job aides and designing& maintaining the payment posting reference manual, and assists and supports the supervisor in all areas except personnel related matters. Minimum Qualifications Education/Training * Bachelor's Degree Preferred; High School Diploma or equivalent required; Consideration will be given to appropriate combination of education, training, and experience Experience * 2 years healthcare payment posting experience; GE IDX experience preferred. License/Certification/Registration * No special certification, registration or licensure is required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities * Skill in computer keyboarding - at minimum 30 wpm (numeric); Skill in using 10 key pad calculator by touch; Ability to review data input for completeness and accuracy; Knowledge of coding and clinic operating policies and procedures; Knowledge of payment posting policies, procedures and practices of clinical practices; Ability to prepare records in accordance with detailed instructions. Proven exceptional payment posting skill. Proven ability to provide effective instruction. Proven leadership abilities. Excellent oral and written communication; Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills; Ability to work and thrive in a team oriented, deadline driven, production-oriented environment. Primary Duties and Responsibilities * Assists manager and supervisor with monitoring weekly performance standards for payment posting representatives, relative to, but not limited to, quantity and quality of entries keyed into GE IDX billing system, as well as accurate credit balance resolutions. * Assists supervisor and manager in designing job aides. * Assists supervisor with administrative paperwork, as appropriate. * Assists supervisor with troubleshooting and resolving problems. * Assists with batch audit, including, but not limited to: checking for accuracy, payment correctness, correct insurance pay codes, correct patient, correct contractual adjustments, correct FSC, correct actions for primary and secondary insurance payments, and correct credit balance resolutions. * Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations. * Designs and updates payment posting reference manual. * Ensures journal voucher transfers are forwarded and received on a daily basis. * Ensures unidentified payment accounts are accurately processed on a daily basis. * In performance of all payment posting representative functions, exemplifies the most expert performance possible, sets performance benchmark and be an example in technical aspects - including, but not limited to: number, accuracy and quality of system entries made, as well as other aspects of position and work place conduct, including but not limited to, level of concentration and expertise, positive, team player attitude, etc. which include: Posts payments to patient accounts -- including, but not limited to: payments from insurance carriers, government agencies and patients. Posts payments and allowances from photocopies of checks from patients and third party payers. Posts payments and allowances from schedules that accompany bulk payments from major carriers, as well as post payments from electronic funds transfers. * Performs other duties as assigned. Performs other duties and responsibilities that are appropriate to the position and area. * Provides support in absence of supervisor. * Trains all new employees, conduct ongoing training sessions and act as resource for questions during the workday.
