Job Description NREL has an immediate opening for a Business Support Professional to support our Director of Government Relations and the DC Office. Based in Washington, DC, our Director of Government Relations interfaces with Federal, State, and Local officials for strategic outreach efforts. The Business Support Professional will be expected to oversee administrative efforts and office management for the Director and to support workflow needs for the staff working from the DC Office. NREL's Government Relations efforts are expanding, and the successful candidate can expect to support the creation of new outreach and educational efforts, programs, and interface with internal and external partners. The successful candidate is expected to begin contributing to operational and administrative support immediately following training and onboarding. Specific job duties will include: * Support day-to-day activities, communication, events, and meetings for the Director of Government Relations. * Provide supplementary support to NREL Leadership Team members while visiting the DC Office. * Provide timely, accurate, and effective administrative support for the programmatic, business, and operational functions needed in the DC Office. This includes but is not limited to managing technology, printing, supplies, and Wi-Fi; maintaining kitchen supplies; managing conference rooms; managing office temperature; organizing monthly luncheons for DC NREL staff. * Plan, develop, implement, and improve administrative and business systems to enable smooth and compliant operations. * Coordinate visits, workshops, large and small meetings for the Director of Government Relations. * Ensure appropriate credentials for entry into the DC Office for all visitors including foreign nationals, and sign in/sign out all guests. * Communicate with staff of all levels both independently and on behalf of the Director of Government Relations including but not limited to staff within the DC Office, NREL Leadership, and the Department of Energy. * Have a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism in an environment with sensitive and proprietary information. * Work with other administrative staff across the laboratory on tasks, activities, and events. * Secure travel authorization, travel expense reports, registrations and related paperwork for NREL staff and stakeholders using Concur. * Act as a resource to staff on institutional processes, procedures, and requirements, and provide input and recommendations on organization-specific administrative practices. * Perform other duties as assigned. . Basic Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent and 7 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant Associate's Degree or certification program of comparable scope and 5 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Extensive knowledge in specialized focused business support functions. A comprehensive understanding of both general and specific aspects of business support activities, and their practical application to a wide variety of problems and situations specific to the discipline or field supported. Advanced skills in applicable software packages and office equipment. Considerable project administration and business services skills. Broad knowledge of specific principles, procedures and practices related to supported fields and disciplines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, team and interpersonal skills. . Preferred Qualifications . Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week) Annual Salary Range: $51,500 - $84,800 Offers will typically be made in the bottom half of the listed range. NREL takes into consideration a candidate's education, training, and experience, as well as the position's work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees.
