ICMA also operates a research, public policy, and publications unit that generates revenues, while providing content and other services for the benefit of members and local governments worldwide.We are recruiting a highly energetic Business Development and Program Associate to join our Research and Development Team. This position will work across various units serving as a key member of the ICMA research, development, and technical assistance teams providing support for business development, proposals, research and policy programs, funded technical assistance projects, and an e-bookstore.The Business Development and Program Associate will report to the Director of Research and Development and/or the Senior Manager of Business Development.Although ICMA is currently working remotely, the position is based out of ICMA's headquarters, located in Washington, DC The selected individual must be able to work the core business hours from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm EST. Domestic and/or international travel may be required.What you'll doRegularly track, document, and communicate business development opportunities.Support the identification and cultivation of relationships with potential partner organizations and key staff recruitment.Conduct technical, subject matter, and other research and analysis to assist the preparation of competitive proposals.Process expense reports, invoices, consulting agreements, purchase orders, and provide other administrative and logistical support, as needed.Coordinate the proposal development process, meetings, and support the final packaging of proposals.Support the content and programmatic needs of other business lines and content areas, including existing funded technical assistance programs, local government research and public policy, and ICMA's e-bookstore.What you need to be successful in this roleBachelor's Degree in International Development, International Relations/Affairs, Public Administration, English, Communications, Marketing, or a related field preferred.Prior business development experience, including work on proposals and/or projects funded by private and/or public agencies, foundations, or other donors preferred.Prior coursework and/or experience in survey research would be helpful.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)Experience in project management, budgeting, financial management, and administrative skills.Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office and other commonly used software programs.Knowledge of local governance issues, programs, and finances in the United States and/or internationally is preferred.Knowledge of business development and proposal processes.Exceptional oral and written communication skills.Willingness to travel as needed and when deemed safe to do so by ICMA management.Physical Requirements/Work EnvironmentThe incumbent works in a virtual office environment.
