Systems Engineering Intern to support US ARMY Optionally Manned Leader Follower (OMLF) program assisting with the transition of a research and development effort into a program of record by flexibly introducing systems engineering practices and principles using a suite of available software tools, such as JIRA, DOORS, and MagicDraw, with the ability to quickly learn and apply new tools to increase the efficiency of value delivery.

This position will require a computer network technology savvy individual who thrives in a highly collaborative, highly interactive environment. The individual facilitates information transference between non-technical Government employees and highly technical engineers and software developers. Additionally, this individual will need to recommend ways to add structure to an unstructured environment and assist with formalizing processes and procedures.

Essential Job Functions:

Able to communicate with project managers, solutions architects, technical engineers, and software developers.

Able to assist with the development, management, and review of DoD Systems Engineering Documentation including the Performance Specification (P-SPEC), Software Development Plan (SDP) System/Subsystem Design Description (SSDD), Software Requirements Specification (SRS), Cyber Security Strategy, Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM), Requirements Verification Matrix (RVM).

Able to assist with the requirement development process utilizing tools, such as IBM Rational Doors, JIRA, and Confluence to communicate, trace, track, and develop requirement baselines through multiple builds of the software development process.

Able to assist with the solutions architecture process utilizing tools, such as* MagicDraw, to converge requirement baselines with innovative solutions through graphical depictions of systems, data flow, and logical diagrams.

Able to assist with the requirements verification process utilizing various levels of inspections, demonstrations, analysis, and tests by facilitating the documentation of test plans, procedures, and reports.

Required Skills:

Due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.

Enrolled at an accredited university pursuing a Systems Engineering curriculum and maintaining full-time status.

Completed at least 1 year of the Systems Engineering curriculum.

Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Desired Skills:

Experience with Robotics and Autonomous Systems.

Knowledge of the DOD requirements development and decomposition.

Experience with requirements management tools such as IBM Rational Doors.

Experience with systems architecture tools such as MagicDraw.

Analyzing complex systems and/or information and breaking them down into manageable chunks which can be easily explained.

Innovating creative solutions to share information with audiences of varying technical abilities.

Writing clear and concise emails and documentation without burying the important points in paragraphs of unnecessary information.

Understanding the needs and desires of other team members.

Self-monitoring the impacts of the candidate's behaviors on others.

Craving critical/constructive feedback from others on how to improve.
