You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes planning, coordinating and executing community relations programs and events; developing a wide range of information products including social media sites, digital and written fact sheets, memorandums, digital press releases and programs, developed in support of community relation activities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and minimum qualification requirements prescribed by OPM within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
Additional information
- Responsible for planning, coordinating, developing, and directing internal and external engagements and social media strategies that promote the understanding of the mission and contributions of Fort Belvoir, Virginia and its mission partners.
- Establishes and maintains rapport with local community, state and federal representatives, organizations and coordinate participation in congressional inquiries.
- Provides guidance on the coordination and facilitation of installation-wide events required to promote the Fort Belvoir mission, providing protocol guidance and support as necessary at the director?s discretion.
- Executes social and print media community information programs designed to improve the understanding and recognition of the U.S. Army and Fort Belvoir objectives for developing the media, general public, civic groups and organizations.
- Serves as installation spokesperson when interacting with media representatives.
- Attends briefings and meetings concerning major events and activities, reductions of programs or personnel, etc.
- Develops social and print media information strategies to communicate the purpose or objectives of intended changes to targeted groups.
