BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Possess undergraduate or graduate education: Major study -- illustrative design, commercial art, fine arts, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, or other fields related to the position. Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis.

Possess experience in the actual type of work for which application is made. Unpaid experience is creditable, provided the work done was of a quality level and demonstrated the ability required for the position. This includes work in the appropriate field, e.g., design, modelmaking, art, taxidermy, or restoration.

To qualify for this position you must possess all of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience must include all of the following: Supervision in one of the following career fields: Historic Preservation, Facility Management, Planning, Design and Construction; Serves as a historic preservation expert and project coordinator performing planning, design, and construction of historic structures and material; performing historic preservation work involving both designed and rustic architecture, historical landscapes, historic roads, bridges, and other roadside features; establishing historic restoration project requirements and priorities and developing strategies for long term goals for historic preservation.
There is no substitution of education for experience at the grade level of this announcement.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as "varies". Experience listed as full-time will be credited at 40 hours per week.

Working Conditions: The work is generally performed in an office setting with adequate lighting, space, heating, and ventilation, yet may require periods of field work and exposure to all types of outdoor weather conditions, working from heights, confined spaces, and noisy work environments.

The major duties of the Supervisory Exhibits Specialist position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Responsible for overall management, operation, and execution of business practices; analyzes organizational needs, plans & directs site management, staff (50+), budget, & equipment; contract administration; directs financial management of center;
- Authority for the divisions preservation services program - establish long-term goals, overseeing overall work meets annual targets; enters into contracts & partnership agreements with Fed, state, local, & tribal governments, etc; responsible for assignment, completion, & review of program's annual workload;
- Maintains communications with Regional Chiefs of Maintenance. Park Superintendents, Congressional Rep & staff, media & journalists; develops & maintains contact with Fed agencies, universities, colleges, international org, state/local elected officials, etc;.
- Serves as a subject-matter-expert (SME) and technical advisor for a wide variety of preservation activities being undertaken by conservators, architects, engineers, project and construction managers and trade workers.

- Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
- Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- Any individual who is currently holding, or has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet time-in-grade requirements (must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent in the Federal service). Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal civilian employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
- You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required. You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record. You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.
- You may be required to complete training and operate a four-wheel drive vehicle.
- You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
- You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
- If you are a new employee or supervisor in the Federal government, you will be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
- You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 10 nights per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.
- You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority.
- You will be required to complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450 on an annual basis.
