Duties

  • You will recognize the need for repair and maintenance to Master clock and time transfer electronic systems, sub systems, components, connections, and associated electrical power systems.
  • You will assist the different time transfer divisions with their respective missions.
  • You will perform routine satellite operation, special time calibrations, equipment testing, satellite dish installation troubleshooting and maintenance.

  • The incumbent must be able to independently lift and carry up to 100 pounds.
  • Incumbent must be willing to travel for up to 2 months per year , up to 2 weeks at a time.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Top Secret/SCI security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • Incumbent must complete an initial Tier 5 Investigation (T5) and favorably adjudicated.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • The incumbent may travel to locations near the equator or near the artic.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • This position is eligible for part time, full time or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.
  • Travel up to 2 months per year for up to 2 weeks at a time, may be required.


Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR THE GS-09: In order to qualify for this position, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-07) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to perform successfully the duties of the position such as:
  • Utilizing electrical test equipment independently.
  • Assisting with maintenance of electrical systems.
  • Troubleshooting electrical systems.
  • Utilizing oral and written communication skills to create reports on procedures developed

Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to perform successfully the duties of the position such as:
  • Utilizing electrical test equipment.
  • Assisting with maintenance of electrical systems.
  • Utilizing oral and written communication skills to create reports on procedures developed

Education

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE FOR GS-07: One full year (18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours) of graduate education meets the requirements.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE FOR GS-09: Two full years (36 semester hours or 54 quarter hours) of graduate education or a master's degree meets the requirements.
