Duties

  • Support IT service management across the National Capital Region in such areas as Network administration, service desk, network and IT engineering, audio and video services, telecommunications management, etc.
  • Provide Information Assurance (IA), Computer Network Defense (CND), cyber security, and operational support for National Capital Region (NCR) systems.
  • Responsible for the day to day operation of the NCR NEC assets that support the National Guard Bureau at various locations.
  • Coordinate technical vulnerability testing and network assessments for the NCR NEC to counter unauthorized attempts to enter NCR NEC Networks.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). IOR Basic Requirements:

In addition to meeting the Basic Requirements above you must also meet the specialized experience below.
Specialized Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: monitoring and evaluating systems compliance with IT security requirements; providing advice and guidance in implementing IT security policies and procedures in the development and operation of network systems; participating in the cybersecurity planning process; integrating network systems consistent with existing or planned network infrastructure.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service (GS-11 or equivalent).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
