Blue Star, an award-winning design + build firm based in Washington, DC, is seeking a highly motivated, seasoned individual with a passion for residential interior design and leadership skills to join our team. The successful candidate will be a key member of our team and responsible for managing all aspects of the interior design for multiple residential homes. The Interior Designer works in partnership with our clients and internal team as well as vendors, consultants and stakeholders at all levels to deliver innovative problem solving and design excellence. Ideal candidate will: Design and manage 3-4 projects at a time from inception to installation that combine beautiful design and function, Manage and communicate design intent, style, schedule and budget to clients, Create detailed floor plans, renderings, elevations, tile plans, cabinetry layout, comprehensive specification information and installation drawings for all interior finishes, Provide guidance, expertise and superior customer service to clients throughout the design and installation process to ensure design concept accuracy and client satisfaction, Identify and source products, finishes, etc., securing estimates and product availability within budgetary restrictions; Provide design re-selections, as necessary, Maintain Design Library and Vendor program, Prepare and present design presentations to the client to professionally and effectively communicate design intent and secure final approvals of all finishes and costs, Collaborate with clients throughout the entire project about all design-related items while managing expectations, Maintain budget and detailed cost tracking and communicate variances to the internal team and client. Ensure accuracy and tracking of all client related expenses for invoicing, Perform site visits, field measurements and oversee project installation from start to finish; Attend and lead on-site meetings with clients and vendors as necessary, Collaborate with internal and external team to ensure successful outcome of all projects; Contribute to office activities, initiatives, and learning programs. Qualifications Required: A minimum of 3-5 years' professional experience within Residential Interior Design Bachelor's degree in interior design, architecture, fine arts and/or related field Proficient Revit, AutoCAD and SketchUp skills required; hand sketching skills a plus including floor plans and elevations Excellent written and spoken presentation and communication skills Superior customer service and positive attitude Creative, self-directed, motivated and collaborative Thrives in a fast-paced team environment, able to multi-task, collaborate, prioritize, and consistently meet deadlines Working knowledge of online design and lifestyle social media etc. Knowledge of residential interiors construction codes and building practices as well as construction technical aspects a plus Fluent in written and spoken English; Spanish fluency a plus Valid work permit (USA) and Residency in DC/MD/VA Valid driver's license/access to a vehicle If you or someone you know is committed to providing superior client service, is technically proficient and enjoys working with a creative, collaborative team dedicated to innovative problem solving and design excellence, please contact us!
