Job Description Provide on-site coordination of construction projects at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Support the planning, coordination, or scheduling activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems. Participate in the conceptual development of construction projects and support in its organization, scheduling, and implementation. Work with Contractor and Naval Facilities Engineering Command to schedule the project in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines. Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, and other regulations. Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to customers, administrative staff, workers, and clients, representing the Medical Center's Facilities Management Department. Support in the review contracts and support Naval Facilities Engineering Command to negotiate technical revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors. Review necessary permits and licenses for compliance with regulations, codes, and navy guidance. Provide technical advice and coordinate with Government engineering technicians. Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods. Team with NAVFAC Washington Engineers to select, contract, and oversee workers who complete specific pieces of the project, such as electrical, mechanical, painting or plumbing. Support in the preparation of technical budget estimates and progress and cost tracking reports. Partner with NAVFAC Washington Engineers to develop and implement quality control programs. Take actions to coordinate impacts with NAVFAC Washington and customers resulting from delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction site. Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems. Plan, organize, and support in the coordination of activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems. Team with NAVFAC Washington to investigate damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites, to ensure that proper procedures are being carried out. Evaluate construction methods and determine the technical appropriateness of cost-effectiveness of plans, using computers. Citizenship required by government contract. Must be able to obtain a secret clearance Qualifications US Citizenship required by government contract. Must be able to obtain a secret clearance. Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering or similar field Active AIA, RA or NCIDQ license/registration as an Architect or Interior Designer; LEED accreditation a plus 3-5 years' experience in a Health Care environment; healthcare interior architecture exp preferred Experience in space planning and material selection for construction Experience producing thorough, accurate, detailed construction selection documents a plus Knowledge of the practical application of architectural science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to design and construct facilities and building systems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to bring others together to reconcile differences Ability to read and understand Architectural drawings Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar software Proficiency in MSOffice application Additional Information HFS Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer including disability/veterans.
