Summary The Human Resources Generalist will successfully manage the day-to-day functions of the HR team, including hiring, onboarding, benefits and leave, general HR support, and enforcing company policies and practices. The generalist will advise employees on benefits, leave, and employment-related issues. The generalist must also have a thorough understanding of legal compliance for human resources federal, state, and local requirements and will be primarily responsible for ensuring that required compliance reports are prepared accurately and submitted. This position reports to the Vice President, HR. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Manages the day-to-day functions of the HR team, including benefits administration, onboarding, offboarding, staff training, communicating/enforcing policies, and general HR support. - 25%. Includes: Coordinating employee benefits to ensure that enrollments, status changes, payroll deductions, and bill reconciliations are processed accurately. Administering new hire onboarding and orientation. Conducting exit interviews. Ensuring compliance with labor and employment regulations (federal and state), such as ADA, ADEA, including benefits (Workers Compensation, Unemployment, FMLA, COBRA, HIPAA, etc.). Ensuring the confidentiality of files, records, and data, and use discretion in controlling access to and release of information. Managing the performance management processes. Responds to inquiries and researches and/or direct questions to the appropriate contact and provides exceptional customer service to employees and managers. - 25% Recruits and facilitates the hiring of qualified applicants by advertising, sourcing, screening, etc., as well as ensuring that both job candidates and hiring teams are engaged in the process. Manages and continuously improves the recruiting processes, develops hiring resources for managers and hiring teams, and collaborates with the HR team to develop effective recruitment strategies. - 40%. Includes: Prepares offer letters, employee status change letters, and other HR communications, as needed. Maintains personnel-related data and records to ensure employment required compliance is met, which includes updating and maintaining employee job descriptions. - 10%. Additional Duties And Responsibilities Provides guidance on policies and procedures to employees and managers. Develops and maintains talent management processes. Assists in the compilation of data for HR reporting needs. Submits mandatory compliance reporting requests (ex., FSA non-discrimination testing, and EEO-1, as required. Assists in the planning of staff events (holiday party, staff training/meetings, etc.). Assists with other duties and special projects, as assigned. Education Requirements Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or relevant field. Experience Requirements 3-5 years experience as an HR generalist, with similar responsibilities. A minimum of 2 years of practical experience in benefits and leave plan administration of retirement, healthcare (medical, dental, vision), flexible spending, COBRA, FMLA, HIPAA, etc. Proficiency with MS Office, HRIS systems, and is comfortable learning new technical systems, as needed. Recent ADP WorkforceNow experience is strongly preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of the human resources field. Understanding of employment regulations (federal, state, and local) Other Specific Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Certifications, Licenses A high level of detail orientation and accuracy (checking your work for accuracy is especially important). Ability to prioritize work assignments and track multiple projects simultaneously and follow through to completion with each. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on assigned duties; a sense of ownership and urgency in completing assigned job duties is essential. Excellent time management and problem-solving skills. Excellent written/verbal/interpersonal communication skills. Uses sound judgment and maintains strict confidentiality. Additional HR training or experience is a plus. PHR preferred. Knowledge or experience of payroll processes is a plus. Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities/no direct reports. MANAGES 0 TRAVEL, WORK ENVIRONMENT, AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS The generalist operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses office equipment (currently working from home, under our current COVID operations policy and will continue until further notice). While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear and will require staring at a computer screen and/or documents for extended periods of time, standing/moving around when filing for extended periods of time, some lifting (boxes, packages, office equipment) and moving tables/chairs to set up meeting spaces. Travel is not expected but may occasionally be required for events (or for essential office visits, while under the COVID operations policy). Telework privileges may be requested, in accordance with our standard telework policy. Satisfactory performance and excellent customer service must be maintained. This position is expected to regularly attend Foundation meetings and training. As a condition of beginning and maintaining employment, this position is required to adhere to all Foundation policies, including any COVID workplace and vaccination policies adopted.
