The Building People, LLC, has a position open for a full-time Senior Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Specialist on the US Department of Energy (DOE) Solar Energy Technologies Office (SETO) communications team. The communications team is a creative, high-performing team at the Energy Department, and leads campaigns to support the rapid adoption of solar energy across the country to achieve 100% clean energy. Although the office is currently 100% telework, the position will be based in Washington DC when DOE begins Phase 3 of its COVID response (date TBD).This senior communications role is responsible for developing and executing campaigns to promote solar deployment, advance new technologies, and communicate research successes. Using a variety of tactics and strategies, this person will cultivate relationships with industry stakeholders and media, and elevate awareness of office activities to internal and external stakeholders. The position requires collaboration with technical managers, program managers, and National Laboratories to identify solar research achievements that can be conveyed through various communication channels. The Senior Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Specialist will be part of a team that helps communicate the offices mission, activities, and goals externally and internally. Examples of the teams work include DOEs Summer of Solar campaign, the Solar Futures Study launch, and the JEDI in the Solar Industry webinar. Duties include:+ Targeted campaign strategy and development + Media engagement and strategy+ Stakeholder engagement and planning+ Writing and editing communications materials, blog posts, success stories, etc. + Data tracking and reportingCandidates should demonstrate how they have led or worked on an integrated communications campaign, have the proven ability to coordinate and communicate with a diverse group of people, and have existing relationships with industry stakeholders and/or media. A masters degree and experience in energy, environmental, or scientific field is preferred. Seniority and responsibilities will be based on experience. Qualifications include the ability to work as part of a team in a diverse group of technical and non-technical staff, and the ability to develop creative strategies to set and achieve goals. The candidate must be a self-starter and will need to manage competing priorities and respond to tight deadlines in a bureaucratic environment. Required Experience & Skills+ 10 (ten) years experience+ Bachelors Degree is required + Experience in communications required+ Excellent writing and editing skills+ Ability to respond to quick turnaround requests and is highly responsive+ Ability to work under time constraints and tight deadlines+ Strong project management and time management skills+ Experience with online communications, CMS, email platforms, and social media + Keen attention to detail+ Ability to work both individually and in a team environment+ Microsoft Office Suite Preferred Experience & Skills+ Experience in experience in energy, environmental, or scientific field is preferred + Experience in supporting the federal governmentRequired Education+ A minimum of a BS or BA in a discipline that provides the functional skills to perform the functions and responsibilities of this OfficePreferred Education+ Masters Degree is Preferred
