The Learning Designer will report to the Digital Channel Content Manager and work with a cross-functional team of technologists, academics, content development specialists and external partners to build and develop microlearning content for the IB's new online professional development offering for educators. The Learning Designer will be a leader within the Digital Channel team with responsibility for the overall day-to-day design of micro-learning within the platform. This role will have oversight of the creation of all microlearning content and will ensure that all content complies with expected instructional design and user experience quality standards within the platform. Job Duties: Digital Learning Responsible for the day-to-day execution of the learning design approach for micro learning within the Digital Chanel platform ensuring process, timelines, and budget is upheld. Lead the creation of guiding documents that capture the instructional design vision of the channel and ensure that documentation related to specifications is maintained and up to date with current thinking. Ensure the quality of instructional design within the learning design team and its alignment to the standards established for the Digital Channel and best practice in instructional design and e-learning principles. Design digital prototypes, apply innovative pedagogies, and explore different ways of presenting microlearning to best achieve the strategic objectives of the Digital Channel. Provide digital learning design coaching to teams of subject matter experts and support them as they develop content for the Digital Channel. Lead the design and development of training modules and job aides to facilitate onboarding of subject matter experts and ongoing support for content creation within the Digital Channel. Lead the implementation and transformation of subject matter expert content into microlearning pathways and other instructional content. Lead learning design reviews and editing of draft and final versions of learning pathways and other professional development content in the Digital Channel. Gather, process and implement feedback from stakeholders that leads to more effectively designed content as part of the development and design process of all micro-learning within the Digital Channel. Ensure that all microlearning within the Digital Channel is developed in line with agreed upon specifications. Based on user data quickly triage and modify learning content to best meet user needs. Multimedia Production and Design Produce multimedia assets as part of the design of learning content within the Digital Channel. Support content developers in developing digital assets for the Digital Channel. Collaborate with and work alongside a team of multi-media specialists and editors to ensure that digital assets for the Digital Channel are created in line with the specifications of the channel. This includes videos, voice recordings, animations, and reusable graphics and infographics. Ensure that all production documentation is maintained and kept up to date. Innovation and Research Conduct research on learning design approaches, trends, and techniques within the context of the digital channel and micro-learning and present to the team with the goal of improving content development to better achieve goals for the Digital Channel. Job Requirements: An advanced degree in education, learning design, e-learning or educational sciences or an equivalent amount of professional experience in this field. Experience of supervising and developing microlearning for adult learners with teams of subject matter experts, developers and external contractors. A minimum of 4 to 5 years of experience working with digital content, learning management systems and digital authoring tools. Relevant experience in user interface and experience design for adult learners. Knowledge of social media and mobile technologies for online learning. Knowledge of international standards and best practices in instructional design, education technologies and design trends. Experience in quality assurance of educational products and services. Experience in working in an international organization and with different cultures and languages. Experience of working with peer to peer learning methodologies. An understanding of teacher needs in an international context. Working knowledge of the IB and its programmes (desirable) The IB is an equal opportunity employer.
