Duties

  • Serves as the DTIC-PD Division Chief, a supervisory position to plan, direct and coordinate the activities of the Division
  • Formulate Division goals and priorities through discussion with Directorate leadership and subordinate team leaders
  • Consults with other DTIC Directorates and offices whose work affects or is affected by the Division's work in order to coordinate plans and work schedules to meet the overall objectives
  • Coordinate and direct Division resources for effective accomplishment of the DTIC mission
  • Develop staffing requirements and position descriptions based on operational needs, workloads and coverage
  • Sets goals for work to be accomplished; schedules and assigns projects to achieve desired results; provides necessary guidance and assistance and reviews progress and status of work

Qualifications

Basic Requirement: Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating the following competencies appropriate to, or above, the level of this position. For vacancies below the full-performance level of the position, the basic requirement will be evaluated on a developmental basis. Your resume and work experience should clearly support your ability to meet these competencies and will be evaluated as part of the entire application process.

Attention to Detail - experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data and have been responsible for reviewing the work of others to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards
Customer Service - developing and maintaining relationships with customers, anticipating and assessing the current and future information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products or services that are tailored to meet customer needs
Oral Communication - briefing senior-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of complex technical information to a non-technical audience
Problem Solving - identifying alternatives to address unique, highly complex, or sensitive information technology-related issues. I have anticipated information technology-related problems and have identified and evaluated potential sources of information to generate alternative solutions

In addition to meeting the basic requirement, qualified applicants must possess: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade, GS-13, within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Specialized experience is defined as experience programming in languages such as Java, Angular, Spring Boot and NodeJS to develop and support enterprise web applications in a cloud environmen. Experience designing, developing, and maintaining RDBMS and NoSQL repository technologies examples: MySQL, Oracle, MarkLogic or Mongo DB. Experience developing software using agile methodologies, development security principles, and Continuous Integration Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) platforms examples: Jenkins, AWS CodeBuild, Azure DevOps or Atlassian Bamboo in a cloud environment

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
