Duties

As a INTELLIGENCE OPERATIONS SPECIALIST you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Research, analyze, and produce intelligence data and information relative to the Agency's larger mission of combat support, Combatant Command (CCMD) support, technology development, arms control implementation, threat reduction, WMD and Emergent Threat preparedness.
  • Plans, organizes, and conducts research on specific intelligence issues pertaining to WMD and Emergent Threats to the U.S. and allied nations, and on issues within broadly defined and interrelated areas of analytical concern.
  • Provides written input to reports being prepared for dissemination to the Agency senior leadership and its personnel.
  • Prepares briefings and written products for the Department, disseminating current information through various written and automated means.
  • Participates in studies or reports of irregularities observed during the performance of mission personnel duties.
  • Conducts research on various intelligence communications and database systems to fulfill requirements.
  • Coordinates pertinent information closely with Agency elements and the IC.
  • Processes and reviews substantial amounts of intelligence information from various sources.
  • Using computer systems and systematic analytical methods, maintains and manipulates various databases in support of agency situational awareness mission.
  • Continually maintains required input to databases and templates for web dissemination.
  • Monitors requests for information and ensures fulfillment of all requirements submitted by Agency personnel and CCMD elements.
  • Collects, analyzes, evaluates, interprets, and disseminates information on political, economic, social, cultural, physical, geographic, scientific, or military conditions, trends, and forces in foreign and domestic areas that directly or indirectly affect national security.
  • Researches and produces for a variety of customers intelligence reports ranging from simple memos to in-depth, detailed assessments based on incomplete or conflicting data.
  • Checks varying databases, websites, reports, etc. and develops, verifies, analyzes, sources, and evaluates information prior to beginning a research project and continues through until final dissemination.
  • Responds to collection/production related issues, developments, and trends that impact Agency missions.
  • Performs undefined complex analysis of Agency programs, goals, and missions.

Applicant must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, and will typically be demonstrated by working at, or immediately below the level of the job being advertised, for a year or more. The previous work experience must clearly demonstrate the application of the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position.

You must have specialized experience sufficient to demonstrate that you have acquired all the competencies necessary to perform at a level equivalent in difficulty, responsibility, and complexity to the next lower grade GG-12 in the Federal service and are prepared to take on greater responsibility.

Generally, this would include one year or more of such specialized experience. Specialized experience for this position includes:
  • Experience with planning, executing, or analyzing all-source intelligence activities and Irregular Warfare intelligence analysis associated with worldwide Strategic Competition, WMD, emerging threats, threat network analysis, counter proliferation, and arms control.
  • Experience with OSD, Joint Staff and Combatant Commands and Interagency roles and mission support functional responsibilities.
  • Experience with Weapons of Mass Destruction, Arms Control Policy, CBRN Threats, and/or National Defense Strategy priorities.

  • Specifically you will be evaluated on the following competencies:

    1. Intelligence Tradecraft
    2. C-WMD and Emergent Threats Expertise
    3. Effective Written and Oral Communication
    4. Operational and Intelligence Fusion

    Education

    Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.

    Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance. Polygraph examination may be a condition to work on certain projects/programs.

    Pre-employment drug testing and random drug testing required thereafter.

    Travel for extended periods (2-7 days) with short notice may be required.

    Overtime/compensatory time or rotating shifts may be required to accommodate operational needs of the organization.
