Overview: The Human Resources Business Partner is responsible to provide support to the Sr Human Resources Business Partner on the full spectrum of daily human resource functions including recruiting and on boarding, benefits, training and development, employee relations, performance management and special projects as needed. Assist to develop and administer programs to attract, motivate and retain associates. Help to plan, design, implement and manage human resources programs and policies that will deliver measurable improvements in communication, safety, quality, productivity, attendance and workplace behavior. The Assistant Human Resources Business Partner sets a positive, optimistic and enthusiastic tone for both employees and external clients as well as the ability to work tactfully with cross functional teams and influence team members, peers and superiors to work towards common goals. Responsibilities: Assist with recruitment programs and resources for the Distribution Center to control turnover. Facilitate the talent assessment process assisting in interviewing and hiring Ensure a comprehensive pool of candidates is available for each position. Ensure the company uses effective, legally compliant and defensible employment practices - preventing discrimination in hiring by ensuring sound documentation and reporting practices. Assess Distribution needs on an ongoing basis and communicate observations. In partnership with the Sr Human Resources Business Partner will facilitate or design programs which result in increased management effectiveness and improved operating efficiency. Develop and implement a talent review process to evaluate talent development of current and future Distribution Center leadership team and team members. Participate in the periodic Distribution Center leadership talent review process. Identify and plan for human resource requirements for short and long-range goals. Provide positive associate relations with feedback, support and recommendations to management team for timely resolution of associate issues. Provide guidance in the handling of discipline, terminations and associate relations issues. Maintain high visibility for proactive associate relations, ie counseling, focus groups. MBWA, thereby maintaining a union-free environment. Identify issues and provide early intervention, support, assistance and resolution to associates in regards to escalated employment issues. Conduct associate investigations when necessary (ie harassment, discrimination claims). Manage and ensure effective implementation of performance and development tools and the review process. Oversee the writing and updating of accurate job descriptions. Ensure that the information is complete and submits to the Sr. Human Resources Business Partner for evaluation. Identify training and development gaps and develops appropriate strategies to close those gaps. Participate in the development of safety, health and wellness programs, practices, and services to promote the well being of associates and to protect associates and the organization from unsafe acts and working conditions. Assist managers in resolving issues related to Workers' Compensation. Monitor associate compliance with required safety training and MHE certifications. Achieve measurable results in the areas of recruitment cycle time reduction, employee retention, safety, attendance, communication and operating expenses. Other Functions: ( Incidental to the purpose or the job. These functions are performed infrequently, and have little consequences to other jobs if not performed). Facilitate associates' participation in company-sponsored programs (community outreach programs, charity events, etc.) Perform other duties as required. Shift demands vary due to business needs. Full shift flexibility including overtime, holidays and weekends is needed for this role. Supervisory Responsibilities: ( scope of the person's authority, including a list of jobs that report to this job). This position has supervisory responsibilities over the HR Generalist with the potential of additional direct reports as business needs dictate. Qualifications: Education/Certification: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field or equivalent experience and instruction. Professional Human Resources Certification (PHR/SHRM-CP) preferred. Required Knowledge Knowledge of human resources laws and regulations Understanding of compensation programs Experience Required: 1-3 years of experience in human resources. Experience in a distribution or production environment preferred Skill and Ability: Excellent interpersonal skills Strong oral and written communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Bilingual preferred.
