ClassificationExemptReports toVice President of Finance and OperationsSummary/ObjectiveRWD Consulting is looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to work out of its corporate office in the DC metro area. This is position is metro accessible and located in NW DC and is not tele-work position. Reporting to the CFO, the Senior Accountant will assist in the month-end close, preparation of monthly and quarterly financials, ensuring the integrity of internal reporting, financial statement preparation and analysis, and variance analysis. The Senior Accountant must have a good understanding of the budget process and data collection. As related to Government Contracting, the Senior Accountant will assist in the compilation of pricing for proposal submission or preparation.Required Education and ExperienceBachelor of Science (BS) degree in Accounting4-6 years of progressive accounting experienceExperience working in a government contracting firm, a plusMinimum 4 yrs of experience with Deltek Costpoint version 7.0 or higherTime and Attendance, Billing, and ProjectsExperience with payroll and using an external payroll company (including ADP or Paychex)Strong systems skills including advanced MS Office (Excel is required)Working knowledge of financial systems and reporting toolsKnowledge of GAAPEssential Job Functions (including but not limited to):Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Assist in the month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial close processReview/prepare journal entriesReview/prepare various reconciliationsPrepare/assist in the review of the monthly reporting packages required for submission to parent companyEnsure integrity and adequacy of the Company's financial systemsParticipate in the preparation of schedules in connection with the annual audit/reviewAssist with documentation of process and internal control testingAssist with processing monthly invoices to customersAssist with processing Accounts Payable and distributionsAnswer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting dataPerform ad-hoc account analyses and other departmental tasks as necessaryParticipate in special projects as neededHands-on leadership and supervisory style that promotes a work environment focused on results, deadlines, and continuous improvementAbility to work as a part of a team with other members of the accounting and administrative teamsAbility to maintain composure and objectivity in highly stressful situations and in dealing with heavy workloadAbility to prioritize tasks and maintain excellent time managementCompetenciesCommunication.Critical Evaluation.Relationship Management.Ethical Practice.Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required.
