NGSS is seeking Software Engineers with the desire to learn new technologies to join the Remote Sensing Programs Software team to help develop, enhance and maintain software on cutting edge space products and systems. The systems the software engineer will be working on are focused on ground mission planning/tasking (ground control systems), sensor command and control (embedded systems), sensor system test (command of test equipment and emulation) and/or sensor data processing (algorithm development/implementation and high-performance computing) for a variety of Space platforms. Selected individuals will work on an agile development team, primarily using C, C++, or Python. The individual will work through all phases of the software development cycle including design, development, integration, and test. All job functions require close teamwork across functional disciplines and integrated product teams in a fast paced environment. Some positions are focused on containerizing current offerings using Docker and Kubernetes, leveraging MySQL based databases, interpreting and/or translating algorithm designs in Matlab. The selected individual will conduct reviews of software related products, software designs, and additional technical documents. The responsibilities include active participation in cross-functional scrum teams, design reviews, and other reviews, as required. The selected individual will actively participate in technical peer reviews to ensure system/software requirements are being met from an end to end system point of view. Individuals must be self-starters and able to efficiently operate in a team environment. Existing engineering and system specialists will be made available to assist with any activities associated with executing primary tasking. However, the selected individuals will be expected to prioritize and make recommendations to Technical Leads, as required, to implement tasking assigned. While not all positions will require a clearance to start, all positions are contingent on the candidate's ability to obtain and hold a Top Secret/SCI clearance. This position is located in Linthicum, MD. There are multiple positions tied to this requisition, and the preferred qualifications listed capture multiple different positions. This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below. This requisition may be filled at either a Principal or Sr Principal Level. Basic Qualifications: Principal Engineer: 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; or a PhD. Sr. Principal Engineer: 9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD. Experience developing in C, C++, and/or Python Experience developing in a Linux environment Ability to obtain and hold a DoD Top Secret Clearance with SCI Preferred Qualifications: Experience as a member of an Agile Scrum team Experience with the Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Confluence, Bit Bucket) One or more of the following Experience with signal processing development and optimization Experience developing in Matlab Experience with Docker containers and orchestration using Kubernetes Experience developing scaled application in AWS or MS Azure Experience with MySQL databases Salary Range: 96600 - 144900 Salary Range 2: 119784 - 179676 Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
