The Opportunity As the Software Engineering Manager of the Alerts Pipeline team, you'll be working with engineers responsible for the evaluation engine of Alerts. This group builds products that help users detect, understand and resolve incidents faster and find insights in their data that would otherwise go unnoticed. This is a highly scalable, reliable, configurable, and extensible evaluation pipeline capable of processing 100s of millions of data points every minute! Additionally, you'll manage the engineers who provide Tier 3 technical support for the Alerting product. Career development of these engineers to prepare them to join one of our engineering teams is an important aspect of this role. We are looking for an experienced engineering leader with a passion to lead teams, mentor engineers, and collaborate with multiple teams across the product organization. This position is available to work from home or any New Relic office in the US. What You'll Do Enable strong and agile teams of engineers with the context, vision, skills and tools they need to succeed Own the team roadmaps, striking a balance between feature work, maintaining reliable services and paying off technical debt Lead and grow teams of software engineers that work on the performance and reliability of our Alerting platform and systems Develop and iterate on processes and practices that keep your teams focused and implementing efficiently Lead with a DevOps approach - we build and maintain our software, including taking turns being on-call, and tailoring our on-call alert policies to prevent pager-fatigue Partner closely with product management, fellow engineering leaders, and key decision-makers to set up team priorities and roadmap Foster an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives thrive Your Qualifications Must have: 3+ years proven experience in a technical leadership role leading multiple roadmaps/backlogs 7+ years of professional software engineering experience Capable of digging into and understanding the technical implications and risks of a decision Experience coaching and developing early-career engineers along with seasoned professionals Ability to collaborate within your own and across departments Proven track record of delivering high-quality, reliable software in regular, iterative releases (CI/CD and DevOps experiences highly valuable) Understanding of operating distributed data systems at scale Experience leading distributed teams with a variety of Software Development Life Cycles Nice-to-have: Exposure to cloud transformations (AWS, Azure, GCP) and/or hybrid cloud Experience with DevOps processes, tooling, and practices Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
