Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman is currently seeking an Engineering Test Technician level 2 or 3 - Environmental for our Elkton, Maryland location.The Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) facility in Elkton, Maryland began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers. The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY and Palm Beach Gardens, FL.Elkton, Maryland is located on the Upper Chesapeake Bay, midway between Philadelphia and Baltimore. Discover charming small towns, parks with miles of trails, specialty and antique shops, award winning restaurants, and inns. You can hike, bike, camp, bird watch, ride horseback, or drop a fishing line. Five rivers, Chesapeake Bay and the C&D Canal can be explored by boat or by land. Summary:This position works closely with Engineering to configure and execute testing operations primarily in regards to the set-up, operation, and maintenance of shock and vibration test equipment as well as installation of test instrumentation. This position will require working both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions as well as some overnight and weekend on call support as needed. Operations will include working with energetic materials including explosives, high/low pressure gas systems, and cryogenics.Provide technical support to engineers regarding thermal conditioningGathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical dataConstructs, calibrates, adjusts and maintains equipment, components, devices or systems.Works from schematics, engineering drawings and technical instructions.Sets up and configures test equipment, systems, test articles, and softwarePerform tests/experiments and records data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysisReports data in prescribed formatDocuments setup and test resultsAssists with other testing activities as neededThis requisition may be filled at either an Engineering Technician 2 or Engineering Technician 3.Basic Requirements Engineering Test Technician 2High School Diploma2-4 years overall work experience within a manufacturing environment.Must be able to work modified shifts, overtime and weekends, if needed, and have some flexible working hours to staff production needs.Ability to acquire a Security Clearance which requires US Citizenship as a pre-requisiteAbility to obtain forklift certification.Experience in vibration and shock testingBasic Requirements Engineering Test Technician 3High School Diploma4-6 years overall work experience within a manufacturing environment.Must be able to work modified shifts, overtime and weekends, if needed, and have some flexible working hours to staff production needs.Ability to acquire a Security Clearance which requires US Citizenship as a pre-requisiteAbility to obtain forklift certification.Experience in vibration and shock testingExperience in installation of test instrumentationPreferred Requirements:Defense Industry experienceComputer knowledge in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and WordFamiliar with Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing and 5S principlesExperience in programming and operating of M+P vibration control system.Experience with the application and use of various vibration and shock accelerometers.Experience working around hazards including explosives.This position falls under a Federal Explosives License issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for this location.
