Undergraduate Career Consultant The George Mason University, School of Business, invites applications for the position of Undergraduate Career Consultant. This position will have an emphasis on internships and experiential learning programs. The Undergraduate Career Consultant will engage students in planning for full-time jobs and internships in business, assisting with their career needs, which may include resumes, interview skills, and preparing for the job search. Responsibilities:The Undergraduate Career Consultant has responsibilities in the following areas: Student InteractionProvide internship and career advising in one-on-one setting to include: With a special focus on Internships and experiential learning, Undergraduate Career Consultant will provide direct student service through individual appointments and office hours. Individual advising involves extensive coaching, and advising for students at all stages of career development including making sound decisions about career choices; learning how to identify and secure externships and internships; demonstrating the value and use of career resources, and teaching students about resume writing, industry and employer research, interviewing skills, networking and internship/job search strategies. Industry DevelopmentUndergraduate Career Consultant will work with the career services team to build specific industry knowledge that will directly influence and impact the ability to assist students in their job/internship search. Workshop and Orientation SessionsPresent career and internship related workshops and orientations throughout the year for the purpose of educating and engaging students in the program in the School of Business. Work directly with the School of Business Career Services team to create and implement new initiatives, programs, and services to better enhance the overall experiential learning experience of School of Business students. Special ProjectsCreate and manage projects as assigned by the Associate Director or Assistant Dean of Career Services to help achieve the goals of the career services career development and internship/experiential learning programs and services. Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree with a Business discipline preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience; Ability to implement academic programs and services;Excellent organizational, communication and presentation skills;Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently;Relationship skills such as teamwork, collaboration, networking, and development; andExperience working with the implementation of internship programs and career services for business students. Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree in counseling or higher education administration preferred; Experience in career services in higher education, other related experience in higher education; Knowledge of business careers and the local/regional business community;Experienced in the use of the internet; andExperience with Word, Excel, Salesforce, Banner, and PowerPoint.
