The Internal Communications Coordinator helps facilitate effective internal and strategic communication among all employees through effective management of Dewberry's intranet. The internal communications coordinator requires a range of practical skills, including excellent writing, planning and coordination, familiarity with data and web-based systems and software, and strong attention to detail. The ideal candidate has a passion for effective communication and knowledge management. The position works closely with the chief communications officer, director of communications, fellow communications specialists, IT systems personnel, and internal departments (e.g., human resources and legal) to ensure information is received and easily discovered by employees. The selected candidate will work with the communications team to help plan and onboard the intranet upgrade in 2022-2023.

Responsibilities

Intranet Coordination and Facilitation

The position is the primary point-of-content for coordinating Dewberry's intranet, including:
  • Discuss requests from employees about their needs to communicate and collaborate and offer best solutions using the intranet
  • Help all departments manage and upload content; conduct annual content audits; help identify and implement improvements
  • Monitor conversation stream, add in relevant hashtags/keywords; ensure questions get answered
  • Offer creative ideas for increased engagement with the intranet and its critical information
  • Help write, edit, or review content to post on the intranet
  • Review content and search analytics; make improvements
  • Ensure document taxonomy
  • Train staff and help with new employee onboarding
  • Help create and maintain file structure on intranet server, including assigning permissions
  • Stay current on intranet software platform and report issues to the software helpdesk

Internal Communication Planning and Implementation
  • Work closely with the chief communications officer, director of communications, and the internal communications specialist to develop and implement strategic communications plans that engage and inform staff
  • Maintain a calendar of corporate initiatives content


Required Skills & Required Experience

Experience:
  • Two to four years in a professional setting
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to communicate effectively and execute work with all levels of the organization
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent quality control
  • Experiencing coordinating content for internal or external websites
  • Experience with database coordination
  • Proficient in the use of MS Word and SharePoint, a plus

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree required in English, library science, or equivalent degree
