Design Operations Risk and Insights Lead - Top of House, Experience Design

We are currently seeking an Design Operations Risk and Insights Lead to join our team. We are passionate about keeping our design teams well managed so that they can deliver world-class products that redefine our customers' day-to-day financial activities.

As an Design Operations Risk and Insights Lead for Capital One's Design organization, you will apply your process, risk management and analytical skills to create operational reporting and measurement tools, routines and standards to drive operational and risk maturity within the organization. You will be responsible for developing and deploying best-in-class resources and processes for design associates and leaders within the organization that drive efficiency, promote productivity and enable effective cross-organizational decision-making. You will be responsible for front line risk management practices to identify, measure, monitor, control, and report risks within our risk appetite.

What You'll Do:

You'll be asked to handle a variety of responsibilities, including:

Collaboration & Connection
  • Encouraging innovation and helping shape and manage effective and efficient risk practices within the organization
  • Partnering with design leads, partners and teams to coordinate and prioritize resources and the portfolio of cross-organization work
  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships by collaborating with local and enterprise-wide risk, human resources, technology and learning and development partners, as well as business teams to uncover customer and business needs
  • Overseeing organizational feedback mechanisms to understand operational process inefficiencies and pain points
  • Driving momentum by creating transparency to the overall operations and risk portfolio
  • Connecting with design operations, chiefs of staff, and design practice communities by learning, sharing, and teaching
  • Establishing consistency of terminology and standardized reporting at TOH and across XD business units in collaboration with key partners


Lead & Develop Teams
  • Building and leading a successful team by mentoring, coaching, and elevating others
  • Guiding team members in strategy, research, alignment, analysis, process improvement, and change management
  • Navigating conflict resolution within your team as well as within projects, teams and partner relationships


Discovery, Delivery and Support
  • Assisting and driving project delivery, including project and process management, reporting, and stakeholder engagement
  • Own drafting and reviewing materials for senior management, and other governance activities
  • Identifying, standardizing and scaling operations best practices, specifically with respect to risk management and overall metrics and reporting
  • Designing, streamlining and automating organization-wide operational processes to simplify and enable associates and leaders to focus on their work
  • Developing and deploying a communications and education strategy for operational or risk management change
  • Maintaining all operations metrics, reporting, feedback and routines:
    • Reporting on the portfolio of work, organizational health and satisfaction to stakeholders
    • Coordinating and facilitating operational activities and events
  • Tracking effectiveness of operating standards and talent/performance management activities
  • Be comfortable working at all levels of zoom, from influencing portfolio strategy to task execution
  • Leading Audit engagement as point person when Audit Responses arise
  • Ensure Data Management policies are followed, and controls are monitored
  • Assist in capturing, maintaining, and analyzing data, interpreting it to ensure consistency and adequate Risk Management adherence


Basic Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience with process and analytics management


Preferred Qualifications

  • Comfortable managing cross-channel and cross-organizational experiences
  • Comfortable working with Risk, HR, Finance, Tech and Strategy partners
  • Experience managing multiple large portfolios of work
  • Familiarity working with design, creative or analytics teams
