About the Role We're looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the backbone and edge network engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, planning, scalability, deployment, performance and operation of the our global network backbone and edge connectivity. You will help drive the strategy and advance operations at scale. CrowdStrike is growing rapidly and you will be instrumental in hiring, retaining and growing a team of world class engineers. Responsibilities Build and maintain a high-performance and fault-tolerant production network at-scale. Manage a team that has production responsibilities across engineering, deployment and operations. Define and drive development of a roadmap in collaboration with teams across the organization. Drive the creation of a technical roadmap as well as the tooling and automation strategy. Improve the reliability and efficiency of network operations and practices. Drive capacity planning, forecasting, and create plans for growth. Evaluate technologies for scale, security, and maintainability. Support the development, testing and integration of new hardware and software platforms. Participate in on-call rotations and technical escalations. What You'll Need 15+ years of network engineering experience. Experience in selecting, testing, and deploying networking hardware and software. Experience with ISP and Internet scale networking, optical/DWDM, CDN, edge network security, DDoS mitigation, load balancing. Background in building and operating large-scale backbone and edge networks. Ability to understand scripts and programs for automation, tools, frameworks, dashboards, alarms. (common uses: Python, Go) Expert level knowledge in large scale IP networking technologies and protocols such as MP-BGP, OSPF, ISIS, VRF, VxLAN, EVPN, QoS, GRE, IP SEC, DNS, MACsec. Experience with using software development to operate or deploy a large network. 5+ years of experience using Python, YAML, or Netconf/YANG. Proficient with various networking vendors such as Arista, Palo Alto, Juniper, Adva, Nokia, Cisco, HP, etc. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university. Equivalent field experience considered. Preferred Qualifications: Work experience in data center, telecom, SaaS, or cloud operations companies. Proficiency with excel, and other modeling systems. Ability to communicate technical detail into succinct and fact-based business terminology, both verbally and in writing. Customer-focused mindset, with demonstrated skill in managing expectations, providing proactive status updates, and producing high-quality work products. Ability to use independent judgment to make sound, justifiable decisions and take action to solve problems. Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize and execute in a methodical and disciplined manner. Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work independently and meet deadlines.
