All of this is possible due to the human insight and ingenuity of our most important asset, our employees.We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Flight Operations Engineer to support our unique customer in Greenbelt, MD. This position requires an active Secret security clearance and is contingent upon contract award.The purpose of this contract is to acquire engineering services for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) for ground systems and mission operations support (GSMO-3) in all phases of a mission life cycle. The scope encompasses concept studies, design, development, integration, test, verification, operations, and sustainment of mission operations systems and subsystems, and operations processes and procedures.Applies specialized knowledge of primary technical discipline, eg, aerospace, mechanical, electrical, computer science to support research, planning, development, design, analysis, production, maintenance, and operation of devices, equipment, complex systems, or processes;Design activities generally involve customer specifications, constraints, operating environments, and autonomous, unattended operation;State-of-the-art product development activities may require modification and extension of existing methods and may require advanced techniques and/or tools.Required QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Engineering (eg Aerospace, Electrical, Electronic, Optics, Mechanical, Mathematics, or Physics);At least 12 years of related experience;Requires broad knowledge of several fields and extensive knowledge of own specialty - The Flight Operations Engineer shall develop processes and procedures and perform real-time and off-line satellite operations including command and control of the satellite and/or instruments, process and analyze telemetry, mission planning, scheduling communication contacts, and identification, resolution, and prevention of anomalies. Supports the development, integration and test, operations and maintenance of mission or science operations control center systems for spacecraft/instrument command and control, telemetry data processing and analysis, mission planning, and automation functions including generation of email and phone alert notifications.. The Flight Operations Engineer shall work with the flight and ground systems developers prelaunch to specify the operations concepts and requirements, develop operations test plans, and perform integration and test functions. The Flight Operations Engineer shall work with systems maintenance personnel post launch to sustain and enhance the control centers and systems.Key skills and abilities: Knowledge of structured development of systems and processes, including requirements definition, and test methodology. Experience in operational work environment.Must demonstrate solid judgment in evaluation, selection, and adaptation and/or modification of methodologies and toolsEligible for a Secret ClearanceDesired QualificationsComprehensive understanding of satellites and ground systems concepts through experience or educationTechnical Documentation SkillsOral and written presentation skillsEducation: A Master's degree may substitute for 3 years of experience.Active Secret ClearancePeraton drives missions of consequence spanning the globe and extending to the farthest reaches of the galaxy.
