Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a talented Quality Engineer to join our team in Baltimore, Maryland as a subject matter expert. The selected candidate will: Establish and apply strong technical knowledge in quality engineering, specifications/standards, drawing interpretation, measurement and analysis methods, processes and products, and relevant technologies Identify and resolve complex technical and quality problems, issues, and defects on the production floor through problem-solving methodology, root cause investigation and corrective action implementations Develop, modify, apply, and maintain quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials including those from additive manufacturing and brazing Design and analyze inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment while ensuring that correct and effective metrics are utilized to improve product compliance, minimize risks, and increase quality performance across the factory. This includes supporting CMM operations and the evaluation of product inspected on the CMM. Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process, and/or other control procedures Ability to coordinate/collaborate with external quality teams in data gathering, problem-solving, and risk mitigation to ensure quality standards are in place and maintained Act as advisor to management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications Communicate program execution status and quality metrics to a wide audience of professionals and leadership Review and evaluate non-conforming material for compliance to drawings, specifications, and standards Provide engineering and manufacturing support for the inspection and quality engineering organization, while assisting in the corrective action board (CAB) and data-gathering and analysis Use LEAN concepts and Six Sigma tools as aides to problem resolution - Mentor and provide guidance to team members and less experienced personnel Apply advanced technical principles, theories/concepts, policies and industry standards Perform floor assessments and audits while collaborating with the compliance team Basic Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, or equivalent STEM discipline. 9+ years of relevant work experience in a Mechanical Manufacturing/Machining environment supporting systems engineering and integration, mechanical/manufacturing engineering, and program management (7+ years with a master's degree or 5+ years with a PhD) Solid written and verbal interpersonal, communication skills and confidence to brief senior management with solid foundation in Quality and Mission Excellence applications Previous experience working in quality, engineering, or manufacturing - Experience with ANSI Y14.5 / GD& T Experience in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) Experience with a manufacturing execution system such as SAP - Experience leading projects and/or teams Possess technical knowledge in quality specifications ISO 9001 I AS9100 Quality Management System certification process and J-standard requirements - Proficiency in MS Office Applications especially Excel, Word, Power Point Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance. US Citizenship required. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Materials, Aerospace, Civil, Electrical Engineering Master's degree in STEM discipline. PCDMIS CMM programming and inspecting product on CMM's experience. - Familiar with (or certified in) Non-Destructive Evaluation techniques and requirements Additive manufacturing or aluminum brazing experience. Familiar with structured light measurements and analysis Experience with open setup measurement techniques Five years SAP experience - Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM), specifically NX Demonstrated experience integrating with multiple departments Ten years ' experience in a leadership role in the Aerospace Industry LEAN Six Sigma Black Belt certification - Knowledge of ISO 9001/AS9100 and internal auditing Experience in a DoD Manufacturing environment. Proficiency in drawing interpretation and ANSI Y14.5 / GD & T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) requirements Experience with inspection and vacuum fixture design Active DOD Secret Clearance MAQEA Salary Range: 108900 - 163300 Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
