Job Description

The High School Coordinator for Dual Enrollment and Academy implements a variety of strategic initiatives at the high school level aimed at refining and expanding dual enrollment partnerships and programs to increase the equity of access, representation, and opportunity for a diverse student body and promoting college, career and civic readiness leading to a variety of postsecondary options. The Coordinator manages recruitment and admissions, supports dual enrollment and academy retention, and serves as an advisor to students, families, and school counselors.

This job reports to the Director of School Counseling.

Qualifications

Education: Master's degree in school counseling, higher education, administration, and leadership or job-related area.

Certificates & Licenses: Valid Virginia Department of Education license required, or eligibility to obtain one.

Experience:
  • Experience working in socio-economically and culturally diverse school settings.
  • Facilitation of dual-enrollment processes for high school students
  • Demonstrated expertise in evidence-based program design, assessment, and practices.
  • Documented experience in leading secondary educational program development and implementation, including professional learning in evidence-based best practices for diverse student populations.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to complete high-quality products by established deadlines

Essential Functions

  • Collaborates with stakeholders regarding the development and delivery of dual enrollment courses
  • Serves as the point-of-contact for high school dual enrollment courses and related programs, academies, and initiatives
  • Develops communication strategies to inform ACPS students, families, and staff about dual enrollment and academy opportunities, procedures, and timelines
  • Promotes Dual Enrollment program and academies to students, families, and community
  • Collaborates in the development of a master schedule that accommodates student requests and maximizes opportunities
  • Monitors student progress in course work and provides support and interventions as warranted
  • Verifies course enrollment with partnering colleges & universities
  • Develops and implements programming which allows for students to gain significant college credit and career skills while in high school
  • Develops and implements recruitment efforts and programs to engage and support under-represented student groups
  • Serves as advisor and program liaison to students, families, and school counselors
  • Supports the expansion of ACPS dual enrollment & Early College initiatives related to an interconnected high school model
  • Collaborates with partners to identify potential work-based learning opportunities for students at all high school grade levels
  • Collects, analyzes, prepares, and reports data related to program progress in key areas aligned to ACPS/ACHS strategic plans
  • Maintains high levels of effectiveness with Professional Learning Communities whereby student data are analyzed and teams collaborate for enhancing school improvement
  • Provides leadership for instructional enhancements and interventions that improve student learning and student outcomes.

Other Duties as Assigned
  • Performs other specific job-related duties as directed by the Director of School Counseling or Executive Principal.
  • Assists with unexpected, urgent, and emergency situations as needed.

Clearances
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
  • Tuberculosis Skin Test.

Public Health Compliance
  • Proof of COVID vaccination. Exemptions for religious/medical will be reviewed.
  • Must follow safety and health protocols.
