The Tax Accountant directly supports the Assistant Tax Manager with tax compliance, research, planning and accounting transactions. This position will manage income, sales and property tax compliance domestically on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. This will include reconciliations, calculations, document preparation and filing, and maintaining matrices. This position will encompass some aspects of international tax management.* Prepare quarterly income tax calculations to produce all necessary estimated income tax payments for MSD and any other related entities of the group* Prepare income tax accrual workbooks at year end to be provided to external tax compliance preparers* Maintain all income tax accounting balances and schedules per ASC 740* Maintain ASC 740 documentation related to Uncertain Tax Positions (UTPs)* Maintain fixed asset register tracking all tax related depreciation amounts* Assist with the preparation of tax work papers associated with MSD's Research and Development Credit, and annual UNICAP adjustment* Assist with research of income tax considerations on a transactional basis* Assist with the reconciliation of income tax accounting balances* Assist with the management of any tax jurisdiction inquiries or controversy matters* Prepare sales/use/tobacco tax returns of MSD and any related entities* Maintain tax matrix documenting application of sales/use/tobacco tax to MSD based transactions* Assist in responding to questions related to customer Tax Exemption Certificate* Assist with the management of any tax jurisdiction inquiries, audit or controversy matters* Assist with the preparation and review of state personal property tax filings for MSD and all related entities* Prepare and track annual report filings and payments for MSD and all related entities* Preparation of reports for outside service providers preparation of local jurisdictional VAT returns* Assist in the forecasting process by providing guidance including, but not limited to:o Analysis of global tax liability positions;o Analysis of CAPEX on global tax position;* Assist payroll group, as needed to address payroll tax notices and employment based report filings* Track tax notices, including resolution information* Assistance with special Finance department projects and initiatives on an as needed basisSpecific duties may vary depending upon departmental requirements.Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related fieldMinimum 2 years of accounting experienceCertified Public Accountant preferredStrong accounting fundamentals and analytical backgroundLogical problem solving and demonstrated ability to organize and move project tasks forward in an orderly and structured fashionDemonstrate ability to prepare and maintain appropriate tax documentation on a monthly, quarterly and annual time lineIndependently execute research projects and third party filingsTrack record of successful internal and third party relationsExcellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills Effectively communicate issues/problems and results that impact timelines, accuracy and reliability of financial dataGood understanding of MS Office and accounting software A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected including the ability to multi-task and work productively in a demanding financial environment with changing prioritiesThis position requires the ability to communicate and exchange information, utilize equipment necessary to perform the job, and move about the office.This position is performed in a traditional office environment.
