This position will be located in Dulles, VA, Gilbert, AZ, or El Segundo, CA and will support Tactical Space Systems Division in their development and deployment of satellite ground software to customer resources. Requires strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical topics to management and non-technical audience.What you'll get to do:Collaborate with development team to understand and assess software changes and related testing required to provide new or modified capabilities for operational usersDevelop testing strategy for user stories, features, and capabilities that define new and modified capabilities that will be added to theDevelop and document step-by-step test cases based on the software requirements elicited by mission owners and software developers to verify the software is compliant with the requirements captured in the user stories, features, and capabilitiesTest the software in the actual or simulated environment that it was designed for with users of the system in realistic operational conditions As part of testing, evaluate the operational readiness of a software application prior to the release or production, ensuring system compliance with external interfaces in a common operating environmentEnd-to-end System Integration and TestingIdentify, log, and track defects discovered during testing.Work with the team to ensure defects are corrected and the software works as expectedAssist in the creation of test project status reports and metrics to provide weekly and/or monthly status to the management teamEnsure proper version control and configuration management of all test objects developed and test environments usedQualificationsBasic Qualifications for a Software Test Engineer2+ Years with Bachelors in Software or Systems Engineering or Computer Science or closely related discipline (or 0 Years with Master's Degree)2+ years of relevant work experience in software and systems testing, experience in development and deployment of satellite ground software preferredExperience writing operational test plans and test casesExperience with full systems development lifecycle for software maintenance, development, and/or implementation projectsExperience in ensuring full functional testing of new features being added every sprint, with a focus on operational impact and assessmentDemonstrated experience in technical problem solving, to include decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation and monitoringBasic Qualifications for a Principal Software Test Engineer5+ Years with Bachelors in Software or Systems Engineering or Computer Science or closely related discipline (or 3 Years with Masters or closely related discipline or 1 year with a PhD)5+ years of relevant work experience in software and systems testing, experience in development and deployment of satellite ground software preferredExperience writing operational test plans and test casesExperience with full systems development lifecycle for software maintenance, development, and/or implementation projectsExperience in ensuring full functional testing of new features being added every sprint, with a focus on operational impact and assessmentDemonstrated experience in technical problem solving, to include decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation and monitoringPreferred Qualifications:Active TS/SCI ClearanceExperience with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence, and Bitbucket)Experience with Container Management (Dockers and Kubernetes)Experience in using risk-driven techniques to develop, maintain and execute operational test cases for mission unique softwareAbility to interact with development team and operational users to assess current software gaps, develop testing strategies, and recommend solutions for testing operationally relevant objectivesAbility to assess overall operational effectiveness of a system to accomplish the specified mission, with consideration to functional stability, interoperability, training, and capability to meet defined mission outcomesSalary Range: 74200 - 111400Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
