Duties

The position is a Security Program Support Specialist and provides program support in all phases of the Agency's Security Program. Works closely with the personnel security team and Drug-Free Workplace Program coordinator for Court Services Offender Supervision Agency and Pretrial Services Agency. The individual serves as a clearinghouse for all incoming requests for information. As the initial security point of contact, independently handles and responds to questions in all security program areas. When necessary, direct highly specialized questions to the appropriate manager or security specialist.

Serves as agency HSPD-12 Personal Identification Verification (PIV) card registrar and performs PIV card and proximity card issuances. Additionally, this position provides administrative support and/or backup to the security program managers. Additional duties include, but are not limited to, assigning access levels in various databases, research and developing tracking reports for lost identification cards, resolving issues related to systems reports alarms of improper card use, and initiating background investigation case files (includes performing credit check).

Responsible for the data input and management in the personnel security tracking system and independently handles issues related to systems data entry. The individual performs office supply inventory monitoring/ management and conducts small purchases of other security equipment as needed.

Prepares reports, instruction forms, memoranda, and general correspondence. Drafts, edits, and finalize complex communication/ memorandums as well as other challenging written products.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-07 level if you fulfill one of the following qualification requirements:

A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates your ability to review regulations and policies and apply them to limited and routine administrative work assignments; or assist in analyzing and recommending solutions to work process problems or issues;

OR

B. The applicant must have completed one (1) full academic year of graduate-level education OR be eligible for the superior academic achievement provision when it provided the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the position's work. Graduate-level education must demonstrate the competencies required to do the work of the position; examples of qualifying courses include program administration, program evaluation and design, resource management, and program implementation ( Transcripts must be attached to application or consideration will not be granted .);

OR

C. A combination of education and experience as listed above.

AND

Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks must meet the time-in-grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-05 or higher grade in Federal Service.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education

PASS/FAIL COURSES: If more than 10 percent of your undergraduate course work (credit hours) were taken on a pass/fail basis, your claim of superior academic achievement must be based upon class standing or membership in an honor society.
GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
