Duties

  • Performs complex financial analyses of the sources of risk, such as liquidity, market, operational, and credit risks, in Large or Complex Financial Institutions (LCFls) and evaluates the effectiveness and accuracy of remediation triggers relative to recovery and resolution plan activation.
  • Independently conducts ongoing reviews of economic, banking, financial, and related matters to stay abreast of current developments.
  • Performs off-site horizontal analysis and risk reporting activities, which includes producing written reports that highlight risks to CISR firms and the financial industry as a whole. Analysis includes retrieval and evaluation of data and information from external and supervisory sources.
  • Leads, plans, and facilitates collaborative efforts with Risk Assessment Branch staff, other groups within FDIC, other Federal regulators, and other parties to identify, collect, and manage pertinent information and data from assigned LCFIs.
  • Works collaboratively with other Divisions and other agencies to develop policies, guidance, and examination procedures related to international capital standards, capital planning and stress testing (CCAR/DFAST), wholesale credit risk, retail credit risk, earnings performance analysis, foreign country exposure and transfer risk, or resolution planning.
  • Prepares written reports summarizing the results of examinations, analyses, studies, or other supervisory findings to inform LCFI Institution Risk teams and Division management of significant issues. Makes recommendations regarding supervisory actions or resolution planning concerns related to LCFls.
  • Develops and delivers training programs to enhance CISR staff knowledge and skills related to the supervisory or resolution activities at LCFIs.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. For the CG-14: To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CG/GS-13 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined experience participating in on-site examination activities or conducting off-site horizontal risk analyses that identify, measure, and analyze risk levels across financial institutions. On-site examination or off-site horizontal risk analysis activities should consist of at least one of the following: wholesale credit risk, retail credit risk, capital planning and stress testing, capital adequacy, counterparty risk, foreign country exposures, Allowance for Loan and Lease Losses (ALLL) / Allowance for Credit Losses (ACL), or earnings performance.

For the CG-15: To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CG/GS-14 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined Specialized experience is experience participating in on-site examination activities or conducting off-site horizontal risk analyses that identify, measure, and analyze risk levels across financial institutions. On-site examination or off-site horizontal risk analysis activities should consist of at least two of the following: wholesale credit risk, retail credit risk, capital planning and stress testing, capital adequacy, counterparty risk, foreign country exposures, Allowance for Loan and Lease Losses (ALLL) / Allowance for Credit Losses (ACL), or earnings performance.

There is no substitution of education for the experience for this position.
