Duties

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Assists in planning, organizing, coordinating and directing a comprehensive youth fitness/sports program. Serves as liaison with other military services, organizations, and local community. Ensures facilities are properly prepared in accordance with the rules and regulations of the sport and league. Assists in maintaining sports grounds in proper playing condition. May operate a fifteen passenger van.

Coordinates and manages the preparation, operation, and maintenance of all indoor and outdoor athletic facilities in direct compliance with individual sports and safety regulations.

Assists with recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers critical to the execution of the Youth Sports/Fitness program. Assists with monitoring coaches and compliance with the National Youth Sports Coaches Association (NYSCA) policies and guidelines. Assists in preparation of supporting data for new plans and budget requirement recommendations.

Registers participants, accepts and processes payments through an automated system.

Monitors a very extensive equipment issue program and applies reasonable control measures to maximize usage of supplies and equipment. Conducts inventories of resources (uniforms, equipment, supplies) and ensures adequate storage and maintenance. Examines assigned youth sports resources for defects.

Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Must have three years' experience and/or education that demonstrates competency and independency in carrying out a diversified youth sports program and comprehensive knowledge of the principles, concepts, and methods of youth sports and fitness program operations. A basic knowledge of all sports governing bodies and their specific rules of play with the experience to adapt and modify these rules to meet the needs of various programs. Must have experience with automated data processing procedures and administrative correspondence. Must have experience in customer service and relations. Must be able to work with little supervision. This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance. Must be able to work in all weather conditions to include extreme hot and cold conditions. Knowledge in operating a Children Youth Management System (CYMS) and RecTrac computer operating system is preferred.

Ability to complete the National Youth Sports Coaches clinic-training program. Must possess a valid driver's license; ability to obtain a government license, and operate a fifteen passenger van.
