Duties

  • Provide employees with educational training on various subjects such as PPE selection, usage and care, and, sanitation practices in accordance with all applicable regulations.
  • Conduct surveys and health hazard assessments to identify and evaluate environmental and potential health hazards.
  • Perform analysis using standard methods to determine nature and degree of hazardous material present in a variety of materials, such as environmental samples, and industrial products

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Pursuant to EO 14043, all Federal employees, regardless of duty location or work arrangement, must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by November 22, 2021, or before entrance on duty if after November 22, subject to exceptions as required by law.

  • Appointment to this position is subject to a two year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 15% of the time.
  • This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons in accordance with Army Regulation 40-562, Chapters 3 and 4.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience calibrating and using a wide variety of hygiene sampling instrumentation; experience selecting appropriate sampling equipment and techniques; and experience conducting surveys and health hazard assessments to identify and evaluate environmental and potential health hazards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
