job summary: Director of Accounting A leader in the renewable energy space seeks a Director of Accounting. This person will be responsible for accurate and timely execution of accounting, and related reporting, which may include a combination of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and/or other accounting functions. This position plays a key role supporting the day-to-day cash transactions of the organization. The incumbent will also play an important role driving positive change and performing analytics. location: Washington, District Of Columbia job type: Permanent salary: $90,000 - 100,000 per year work hours: 9 to 5 education: Bachelor's degree experience: 4 Years responsibilities: ? Processes all incoming checks, lockbox, credit card, & wire transactions ? Ensure that customer's accounts are up-to-date, providing accurate information to aid in account inquiries, billing, & collection efforts. ? Review employees expense reports checking for accurate coding and receipts. Reconcile the expense report account and then prepare-schedule for review by VP of Finance. Communicate overdue reports to employees and managers. ? Provide regular status and aging reporting including running month end reports. ? Facilitate the timely collection of funds due by supporting the invoicing process and by monitoring aged receivables. ? Oversee the processing of Accounts Payable ? Provide strong customer service by adequately addressing internal and external customer inquiries in a timely, professional, and knowledgeable manner. ? Reconcile asset and liability accounts on a monthly basis. ? Back-up for VP, Finance. ? Ensures proper internal controls are followed and recommends process changes to improve efficiency. ? Perform other duties as assigned. ? Assists VP, Finance in design and implementation of Internal Controls, gathering data and compiling budgets, and in preparing for pre-audit and audit. ? Designs pertinent reports through Report Management application. ? Serve as the lead on inventory management (and expense COGS) ? Update GL with new account and program codes as needed. ? Analytics for A/R, A/P, General Ledger, and Financials a major function of this position. qualifications: A Bachelor degree in business or accounting or equivalent experience required; CPA certification or post-graduate work a plus. Must demonstrate experience with transaction accounting, ideally to include accounts receivable and either accounts payable or payroll functions. Must be proficient in using Excel and other Microsoft Office Software. Good verbal and written communication required. This position is currently working remotely but in Jan 2022 will be working on a hybrid schedule out of the office in Washington DC.
