Loyola University Maryland is seeking a Grounds Crew Lead to join the Grounds Department within Facilities. The Grounds Crew Lead provides grounds team personnel with the appropriate supervision, support and resources needed to maintain the campus grounds at a high quality level, while prioritizing safety and work efficiency. This includes assisting the Assistant Director of Facilities with scheduling grounds team personnel for daily responsibilities, as well as scheduling personnel for event coverage and sporting events. Duties include: perform regular and directed grounds and landscape maintenance. Mow lawns with riding or push mowers, trim and edge around trees, shrubs, ground cover, flowers, sidewalks and buildings; weed, thin, and clean flower beds and other grounds, by hand or utilizing proper tools and equipment. Plant and maintain seasonal flowers. Perform snow removal and ice management. Operate snow blowers, tractors, pick-ups with blades, salters and shovels to remove snow and spread salt on snow and ice covered surfaces, including roads, walks, parking lots This is a full-time position regularly scheduled to work Monday through Friday 7:30am to 4pm, with 1 hour for lunch. Ability to drive a company vehicle. Must be comfortable working outdoors in all seasons and in inclement weather. Knowledge of synthetic field maintenance including grooming and snow removal of the field surface. Normal courtesy and tact in dealing with others as required. Must be able to safely operate small grounds equipment and power equipment of any kind. Must be able to successfully complete driver's clearance process. Must work with other employees such as coaches, events staff and other grounds personnel not normally assigned to this area in a dependable, collaborative and effective manner, treating co-workers and all members of the community with respect and contribute to a positive team environment. Ability to work effectively with a limited amount of supervision. Ability to compose and send/receive emails. Flexibility to work weekends, evenings and holidays as required.
