Location: Hagerstown, MD Type: Full time Day Shift: Predominantly Monday - Friday, Occasional Saturdays for Special Projects. OT Available. $20- $25/ hour. Experienced Commercial/ Industrial Carpenter **Safety Sensitive Position** Reports to: General Manager Exempt/ Non-Exempt Status : Non-Exempt Supervisory Responsibility : None SUMMARY: The Carpenter is responsible for Constructs, erects, installs, and repairs structures, scaffolding, and framework using hand and power tools, while conforming to local building codes. QUALIFICATIONS: In order to perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following requirements are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions: Education and/ or Experience: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED), five to eight years related experience, and/or training, or equivalent combination or education and experience required. Minimum 2-3 years experience in commercial and/or industrial carpentry required. Knowledge of industrial safety. Language and Communication Skills: Ability to read, write and interpret in English such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Valid Driver's License required. Physical Demands: "Moderate": Exerting up to 50lbs of force occasionally, or up to 25lbs of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Standing or walking required often. Stooping and bending required occasionally. Must be able to see, listen and respond to dangerous situations. Work Environment: Usually working outdoors with occasional work indoors or working in various weather conditions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Constructs or assembles concrete forming systems, according to blueprints and specifications, for forming concrete structures. Constructs, erects, installs, and repairs structures, scaffolding, and framework using hand and power tools, while conforming to local building codes. Interprets blueprints, sketches, or building plans in preparation of layout to determine dimensions and type of material required.The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in industrial, commercial, and bridgework. Must be able to read and interpret blueprints. A minimum of 3 years of assembly/disassembly of heavy form systems. Experience with leveling tools such as laser levels and transits. Must have the appropriate tools of the trade. Perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner. Complies with OSHA safety and health rules. Assist in the regular cleanup of the maintenance area. Assist with new projects Wear proper safety equipment. Other duties as assigned by supervisor or designated manager.
