SPA assists the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) in developing leading edge technologies to counter WMD in support of CCMDs and transitioning these technologies to services and SOCOM. SPA provides expertise across the full range of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and high-yield explosives (CBRNE) WMD, Counter Improvised Threat and Countering Threat Network technologies to support understanding, detection, identification, characterization, denial, control, disabling, defeating, disposing, safeguarding the force, managing consequences, and test and evaluation in support of military and civilian operations. #CJ #IN123 Responsibilities: Provide R&D analysis support to the DTRA RD Chem Bio Dir with emphasis on biological threats. Serves as a technical/scientific resource on projects, analyzing problems and applying theoretical techniques to develop solutions Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge on subjects such as detection, protection, early warning, decontamination, etc. Review proposals, technical reports, experimental or theoretical techniques, scientific studies, and statements of work to ensure technical validity and evaluate current and emerging chemical and biological defense technologies. Assist leadership with decision making analysis. Evaluate all project aspects, including design, development, execution, and implementation of chemical and biological research and development. Understanding capability gaps and assisting in setting project and product-level strategy and priorities, ensuring portfolios are responsive and mapped to program goals. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in life sciences, computer science, bioinformatics, math, software engineering, statistics, data science or related technical field 2 years' work/internship experience in related technical field Familiarity working with biological and/or chemical life sciences datasets Familiarity with machine learning and AI approaches, as well as common data science/Big Data toolkits (SAS, Apache Spark, Big ML, D3.js, MATLAB, ggplot2 (for R programming), Tableau) Ability to perform exploratory data analysis DoD Secret level clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance Desired Qualifications Desired: Interdisciplinary skill set in biological/chemical life sciences and computational sciences Master's Degree and 3-5 years' work/internship experiences in related technical field Familiarity in software development and associated agile DevSecOps methodologies with associated tools (eg, Containerization, VM, APIs, Data Repositories, Docker, Gitlab, Atlassian, GovCloud, etc.) Experience in federated and unfederated cloud based data storage solutions Knowledge of programming languages (eg, SQL, Python, R, JavaScript, Linux) Familiarity with DoD Guidance Governing Use of AI/ML (eg, DoD Instructions, JAIC)
