Job SummaryResponsible for the day-to-day supervision of the clinical staff at the medical practice. Provides patient care as required.Minimum QualificationsEducation/TrainingAssociates or Bachelors degree in Nursing (RN) required.Experience1 year RN experience in a medical office or ambulatory health setting; supervisory experience preferred.License/Certification/RegistrationValid RN license in the District of Columbia, Maryland or Virginia required; CPR certification.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesEffective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Basic computer skills preferred.Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesAttends all scheduled meetings including, but not limited to regular staff meetings and training classes for safety, infection control, OSHA, CPR, and others as required.Conducts department staff meetings and regularly distributes and ensures receipt of information regarding new developments, policies, and procedures.Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.Demonstrates behavior consistent with MedStar Health mission, vision, goals, objectives and patient care philosophy.Implements, monitors, and reinforces MedStar Medical Group policies and procedures. Recommends new or modified policies and procedures to reduce cost and/or improve staff performance. Works with the Practice Administrator to create an efficient practice.Monitors logs to ensure quality control.Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings, serves on committees and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate.Performs other duties as assigned.Prepares medical assistant work schedules and arranges for adequate coverage to maintain optimum patient service (ie, GI, Dermatology, Internal Medicine, Endo/Allergy, and Pulmonary). Coordinates medical assistant coverage with the Clinical Manager at the satellite offices. Assures the proper accounting of hours worked and paid time off. Receives associate notification call of absence. Coordinates rest periods.Provides adequate training of new associates and conducts competency testing for all medical assistants. Ensures that certifications are kept current.With direction from the Practice Administrator, manages associate recruitment and retention, employee relations, performance management, and all other personnel actions for the site.
