General Job Description MPR is actively seeking an Electrical Power Engineer for a full-time position at our Alexandria, Virginia office. The successful candidate will work in MPR's Power Services group and will engage in a variety of challenging engineering projects involving aspects of design, analysis, specification, test, modification, and failure investigation of industrial power systems and equipment. Projects are associated with different types of industrial facilities, including commercial nuclear, coal, and gas fired power plants, renewable generation facilities, transmission and distribution facilities, petrochemical and steel facilities, and transmission system substations. SkillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsIn-depth understanding of electricity, magnetism, and three-phase power system fundamentalsStrong analytical skillsDesire and capacity to simultaneously work multiple dimensions of multiple projectsAbility to multi-task across teams of engineers and managers on various projectsAbility to engage with clients in a professional mannerProficiency with the following considered a plus: Mathworks MATLAB-Simulink(R) modelingOTI ETAP, EDSA, or SKM Power Tools and experience performing short circuit, load flow, voltage drop, motor starting, and transient stability analysesEMTP/ATPEducation Bachelor of Science, Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Master of Science, Electrical Engineering (MSEE) degree from an ABET-accredited university Experience Up to five years of relevant internships, co-operative education work assignments, or industry work experience Working knowledge of the design and analysis of electric power equipment including power transformers, motors, and generatorsEIT and/or Professional Engineer's license (or desire to obtain a PE in the near term)Familiarity with industry design standards, codes, and regulations Qualifications This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 CFR | 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.Travel As required by project assignments. Estimated is 10% - 20%.
