Supporting the Most Exciting and Meaningful Missions in the WorldCommunications Engineer (VSAT/Network)Supporting the Most Exciting and Meaningful Missions in the WorldThe Communications Engineering (VSAT/Network) role encompasses conducting site surveys, design (creation of BOM), procurement (With BizOps team), installation, troubleshooting and repair of Very Small Aperture Terminals (VSAT) world-wide. Some knowledge of Cisco Networking equipment is desired and will become part of the Communications Engineer's responsibility. Training and certification opportunities exist if the Communications Engineer possesses the aptitude and work experience. The Communications Engineer (VSAT/Network) will travel overseas 25-30% of the year to austere and sometimes hazardous environments. Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Clearance. TS/SCI w/ Poly Clearance preferred.Duties and ResponsibilitiesOCONUS travel to developing countries and some conflict zones. Industry - standard installation of communications and networking equipment (VSAT, Cisco Routers, interconnecting media).Experience with connectivity media (Cat5/6, Fiber Multi- and single-mode).Design, develop and deploy functional networks and communications systemsConfigure and install various network and communications devices.Manage and monitor network performance and integrity using Network Operations Center (NOC) tools.Minimum RequirementsAbility to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Clearance. TS/SCI w/ Poly Clearance preferred2 years of hands-on satellite communications or VSAT experience, Understanding of basic network functionality.Previous OCONUS work is desired.The ability to troubleshoot between various points in the network to isolate issues,Ability to lift and palletize heavy equipment (Communications equipment, Satellite antennas and Networking equipment)Strong verbal and written communication skillsThe ability to work as a team member, to follow proper/standard templates and configurations.The ability to work with minimal oversightAdditional Job DescriptionExpected to work within the programs core days and hoursMonday through Friday (40-hour work week, no CONUS overtime anticipated; some OCONUS overtime can be expected).Compressed schedules are not anticipated at this time, but may be considered in the future.Inclement weather schedules are are dictated by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). In the event of liberal leave, contractor must use Paid Time Off (PTO)Ability/Required to lift upwards of 70 lbs.
