Job Announcement

Conducts site SWPP inspections, trouble shooting, routine maintenance and repair, and prepares proper fuel mixtures for a wide variety of small engine equipment such as snow blowers, lawn mowers, power tampers, chain saws, brush cutters, concrete mixers, pumps, and augers. Thorough preventative maintenance and as needed repairs on salt spreaders and snow related equipment. Maintains records of all equipment repaired, parts inventory, maintenance schedules, and fuel mixture ratios. Orders parts as needed. May supervise and instruct trade helpers. Drives truck to and from job sites for emergency repairs and snow removal when necessary. Support Maintenance Operations (MOPS) field staff with field assignments on an as needed basis.

Note: Emergency overtime and unscheduled overtime is a requirement for this position. The appointee to this position will be required to be available twenty-four hours a day/seven days a week (24/7) to respond to snow, flooding, and other designated emergencies on an as needed basis.

Employment Standards

Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to completion of the tenth grade, and completion of an acceptable apprentice program in maintenance and repair work, and one year of successful journey-level experience in related maintenance and repair work.

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Commercial driver's license (CDL) Class "B" within 6 months of hire.
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a pre-employment physical examination, driving record check, and commercial driver's license screening to the satisfaction of the employer.

All newly hired employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (two weeks after the last required dose) as a condition of employment or obtain approval of a medical or religious exemption prior to their start date. Proof of an exemption or vaccination status will be required during the pre-employment onboarding process. New employees who obtain an exemption from the vaccine mandate for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs will still be subject to the weekly testing requirement. Vaccinated employees and employees with a medical or religious exemption will complete the attestation online on their first day of employment or shortly thereafter.

Experience with small engine repair. Experience with Asset Management software. Experience with inventory management. Experience maintaining service logs. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

Hard hat, eye protection, hearing protection, safety footwear, long pants, sleeved shirt and personal fall arrest harness. Candidate must be physically and mentally capable of performing confined space entry operations via 21" manholes with vertical descent using integral or portable ladders further requiring use of all applicable protective equipment and documentation. Ability to pass pre-employment physicals. With or without reasonable accommodation performs duties to include pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, stooping, walking, climbing in and out of catch basins and manholes (with assistance, includes removal and replacement of manhole covers weighing up to 90 pounds.)
