Job Announcement

Provides administrative and logistical support to the DPWES Director's office and the Solid Waste Management Program. Composes routine correspondence. Proofs memorandums and documents for spelling and grammar. Provides and explains relevant policies and procedures. Uses multiple software packages to prepare memorandum, spreadsheets, and presentations. Use of applicable Microsoft software, Internet research capability, and communication skills required. Answers telephones. Receives and directs visitors. Responds to customer service inquiries. Maintains staff calendars. Schedules Meetings. Makes and cancels appointments. Schedules rooms for classes, meetings, conferences, etc. Uses spreadsheets or databases to organize information and produce standard reports. Creates simple spreadsheets. Maintains databases. Creates and prepares a wide variety of forms. Serves as back-up to other administrative assistants within the agency. Assists with travel requests, arrangements, and approvals processing. Verifies requests for goods and services against county contracts and funding sources. Reconciles receipts or accounts receivables/payables. Orders goods or services and ensures appropriate routing and approval of purchase requests. Performs other duties as assigned. Engages in safe working practices and complies with Solid Waste safety programs and guidelines. Complies with DPWES Safety Competencies. The incumbent may be required to drive a county vehicle to Solid Waste Management field sites in the performance of their duties.

Note: The assigned functional area of this position is general administrative support.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to high school graduation and two years of experience providing administrative support in the assigned functional area(s).

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Valid driver's license.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer.

All newly hired employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (two weeks after the last required dose) as a condition of employment or obtain approval of a medical or religious exemption prior to their start date. Proof of an exemption or vaccination status will be required during the pre-employment onboarding process. New employees who obtain an exemption from the vaccine mandate for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs will still be subject to the weekly testing requirement. Vaccinated employees and employees with a medical or religious exemption will complete the attestation online on their first day of employment or shortly thereafter.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of standard office administrative practices and procedures. Extensive experience and proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience using automated technologies such as databases and Web-based online applications to enter, modify and pull data for reporting purposes. Exceptional oral and written communication skills and the ability to pay attention to detail. The ability to exercise tact, discretion, and initiative. Well-organized, flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient. Experience working independently with minimum supervision in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment with a strong commitment to customer service. Ability to juggle multiple projects with superb accuracy.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Ability to input, access, and retrieve information from a computer. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
