SfN is searching for a Grants & Fundraising Assistant who wants to help provide support with grant and development initiatives. The Assistant will focus on individual giving, corporate sponsorships, proposal development and the administrative responsibilities associated with private and public grants. In addition, he/she will learn about related donor prospecting, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship and fundraising marketing activities. The position works with grantors, sponsors and individual donors to secure and steward external funding. The Assistant will work collaboratively across departments to gather information for progress reports, grant proposals, and solicitation documents to ensure compliance with the grant programs. This role is ideal for a candidate that has interests in non-profit management and the desire to learn about fundraising and development. Candidates should have a strong attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication, and possess the desire to learn and grow. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES will include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Update, add, and maintain donor and prospect constituent records in the centralized fundraising database. Track donations and collect database information to create fundraising and other reports. Manage filing system and master files of department records including donor files. Process donations and compose, prepare and deliver gift acknowledgments and other types of donor correspondences. Receive and respond to donor and prospect inquiries. Conduct preliminary research and analysis on prospective donors. Plan internal business meeting arrangements and prepare materials when needed (for example copying, printing, and e-mailing). Help carry out fundraising marketing efforts (for example contacting donors for testimonials). Revise and expand the fundraising pages of the Web site. Provide general support for development activities during the SfN annual meeting such as organizing donor stewardship meetings, compiling informational packages and donor support history, and ensuring proper acknowledgement of donors. Assist in all aspects of donor solicitation including annual appeal activities, and proposal development and administration of existing grant agreements. Provide additional relevant support for all department to support the revenue generating efforts as required. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Supervisory Experience: None. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree required. 1 year of work experience in a professional setting. Non-profit experience preferred. Preferred Qualifications: Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills. Ability to multi-task and set priorities in a flexible manner to address changing needs. Strong written, research, oral, and interpersonal skills. Strong office automation skills (word processing, spreadsheet, presentation software, and database administration), as well as internet research skills. Experience using fundraising databases and search tools. Should be highly organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated. Must be able to work collaboratively with team members, as well as work independently. Must be able to multi-task and set priorities in a flexible manner to address changing needs.
