Duties

  • Serve as Secretary to staff members of the command team.
  • Maintain multiple executive leader calendars exercising exclusive control over appointments and meetings.
  • Compose and type correspondence and memoranda of general and non-technical nature.
  • Receive and screen telephone calls and visitors with tact, diplomacy, and judgment in accordance with policies, operations, and programs of the command suite.
  • Ensure the highest level of decorum and professionalism both within and outside the organization.
  • Effectively enhances the ability of the office to support overall mission requirements utilizing various office automation equipment and software.
  • Devise and install office procedures and practices necessary for accomplishment of the program mission.
  • Perform administrative support duties to support mission requirements.
  • Plan, organize, and execute outgoing communication ensuring proper format, forms, grammar, and typographical accuracy.
  • This position requires a qualified typist.

  • Appointment to this position is subject to a two year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

USAMRICD is participating in an alternative personnel system known as the Personnel Demonstration Project (PDP). The DK-03 payband is equivalent to the GS-09 step 1 to GS-10 step 10 level. In keeping with the Demonstration pay fixing policies, employees earning a salary that falls within this payband equivalent, may not receive an immediate pay increase (promotion) if appointed to this position. Future pay increases within the payband will be accomplished through the pay for performance management system.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Specialized Experience : One year of specialized experience which includes:

1) Experience providing executive level administration support to an office, such as directing visitors and callers to appropriate staff member;

2) Experience utilizing office automation tools to prepare, edit and/or format correspondence and reports; AND

3) Experience maintaining calendars of others such as scheduling appointments, meetings, and travel arrangements.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (DK-02/GS-08).

Proficiency Required : This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Extended Probationary Period The length of the probationary period for the General Support (DK) Occupational family will be two years.
